:offtopic: Organisational behavioural theory states we should not begin a sentence with YOU ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is there really such a theory?? Wow. I gotta go read up on it. I've always avoided using the word \"You\" in forums because that is usually seen as a direct challenge which evokes an equally direct response. Best way to start misunderstandings and quarrels.

The manager in me always makes me start sentences with \"Have\"...

            \"Have you done your homework?\"
\"Have you finished your laps in the pool?\"
            \"Have you finished your food?\"

Repeated so many times, these are about as effective as using a hammer to drive in a screw.

Eh...but hor, that can only be done if you speak in English - how about if you speak in Mandarin?

                \"ๅƒ้ฅฑไบ†ๅ—๏ผŸโ€
                โ€œๅŠŸ่ฏพๅšไบ†ๅ—โ€

Hm........how does that compare to \"ไฝ ๅƒ้ฅฑไบ†ๅ—โ€œ and \"ไฝ ๅšๅฎŒๅŠŸ่ฏพไบ†ๅ—โ€œ๏ผŸ Like no difference leh...maybe it is just English.

And try not to start your enlightening session with the \"dense one\" with the word \"you\", ie.

You: \"You know, you always use the word you when you start talking.\"
                  Him: \"You... what...???\"
You: \"There you go again! See... always say you...\"
                  And the war starts... :nailbite:

Sometimes hubby forgets about this YOU issue. If I not in good mood, I will blast at him: I dun like you to talk to me in this way. Better than \"You don't talk to me in this way, ok!\". If I good mood, the tone will be sweet and gentle with the same 1st sentence.

Oh, so means cannot say \"You know ah....\" hor?
How then? Say 'we' instead? So won't sound like targeting at people right?

                        Interesting.

I just realised that I use a lot of 'we' when talking to my staff.

\"We need to complete this project by this week. So XX can we have your portion edited by tomorrow? So that YY can put in her portion and we'll finalise everything by Fri.\"

Even with my kids. \"We shall make sure all our work is done before anyone turns on the the TV.\" \"Have we cleaned our hamster cages?\" \"Did we learn our spelling and tingxie?\" haha
