This is so misinfo.R3mom:
Is Higher Chinese compulsory for students who dsa via sports into HCI? Thanks in advance.
Yes
Higher Chinese in primary school not compulsory for HCI DSA. BUT strength in Chinese helps because even DSA Sport will need to sit through the English, Chinese, Maths tests and interview.
See this http://forms.hci.edu.sg/dsa/registration/DSAinfo2013.pdf
FYI, HCI DSA Sports challenging because they are very competitive, select your sport wisely. Look at their national ranking for reference. -

I'm a reporter from Singapore's Child magazine. Currently pursuing an article about everything parents need to know about DSA, from IP vs IB to what do schools ask in interview. Anyone interested in sharing your experience of going through DSA with me? PM me if you can help me by sharing; this will help other parents who want to help their child enter the school of their dreams!
Mangotea,
If you are a reporter, I will caution you to be very careful about yr article on the DSA route for each school because there is lots of misinfo on this site. Each parent's DC enter DSA via very different route but many claim to be experts but are really master of non. Suggest you verify your sources carefully and talk to the schools first. A reputable mag like Singapire Child will do many readers a great disservice if you put up the wrong info -

This is referring to if the dsa via sport student need to need higher chinese in hci. Not referring to if they are taking higher Chinese in primary schools... -

I think it is good to bring your Primary 5 to the open house. It will be an eye opener for him/her. Perhaps it may become a motivational force for your child to work hard to get into his/her dream school.Hi,
