i’m no insurance broker so can’t profess to be expert, but I have the impression that as long as the car is being driven by someone with the approval of the owner, the insurance company will cover it should there be any accident (note: must be accident, not the dangerous or intentionally-cause problem type like the famous ferrari wreck).

The only difference is that if driven by named driver, the excess will be lower. If driven by unnamed driver, excess will be higher. But insurance should still cover. I’m not aware of any cases where insurance company intentionally add in exclusion clauses to bar anyone from driving. It’s just that should those accident-prone drivers get into another/more accidents, if they declare accordingly, it will get into the database, and the owner (insurance name) will soon get mo more NCD, be faced with sky-high premium, or simply cannot find insurer so need to sell off car…

oh, does everyone know that insurance company are selective in who they cover? Drivers under 28 and i think above 60 or 70 face bigger problem. I tried to have my father, when he was 77, as named driver, but the insurance company advised me against it as it will then raise the <either excess or premium> very significantly. The agent just asked me to minimise him driving if possible, but if/when he drives, ask him to be careful…

and if you have friends under 28 driving your car, if gets into accident, you will have to fork out additional few thousands $$ as excess…

In your case, if it’s a new car and have appointed insurer, should not be a problem, i think…

Thanks very much, Atrecord... for taking time to reply.

I caved in and agreed with the $17,800 premium to accommodate my 3rd named driver, I don't have much to bargain, Liberty has the last say, they insures most of the big cc cars... tomorrow is the registration day, I am in a rush for a quick fix.

Thank you once again. Have a great day. :celebrate:

You are right about that, Liberty is sure more powerful than any cars... 🦆

My the other 2 cars are also under Liberty, difference is both went through Anika Insurance brokers as that was then recommended by the authorized car dealer. This is the first time I have to deal with Liberty myself, after the car sales managers tried whatever they could. At first they even refused to take a 3rd named driver... what I got now is after much negotiation, 3 weeks exactly! It doesn't helped even I am their client since 2007, not an inch they are to give in!

Why is it so few insurers taking big cc cars? :scratchhead: I thought the motor insurers lose money on the mass market sector but not losing on the luxury motor market? :scratchhead:

Hmm... anyone knows our SBS buses how big cc?? 😂
this would be 6x the size of one car i drove previously, but the premium is more than 17x it...

At that capacity, that vehicle is either a moses lim, a T101 arnold schwarzenegger, or that T-X female terminator that beat up poor Arny in Rise of the Machines.

                        I'm guessing its a T-X. :boogie:
