Hi, I need some help:
Angelia wanted to paste her stamps on a piece of rectangular paper measuring 33 cm by 14 cm. All the stamps used are similar in size measuring 4 cm by 3 cm. Assuming that she did not cut any of the stamps, what is the maximum number of stamps she can paste on the paper.

My son's solution was:
33x14 = 462
4x3 = 12
462/12 = 38R6
Hence, max. stamps = 38 -

Hi,
No, because by doing so you will be cutting the stamp to fill the whole paper.

in this case the total number is 38, obtained as follows
cut the 33cm x 14cm into 33 cm x 8 cm and 33 cm x 6 cm
for the 33 cm x 8 cm :
33 cm side --> 3 cm x 11
8 cm side --> 4 cm x 2
total --> 11 x 2 -> 22 stamps
for the 33cm x 6 cm
6 cm side --> 3cm x 2
33 cm side --> 4 cm x 8 .. left 1 cm --> 1 cm x 6 cm strip
total --> 2 x 8 = 16 stamps
so, total number of stamps --> 22 + 16 = 38

Matthias and hui min had 48 Pokemon cards. Matthias gave 1/2 of his pokemon cards to hui min. in return, hui min gave 2/5 of her total pokemon cards to Matthias. if they have the same number of pokemon cards now, how many pokemon cards did Matthias have at first?

so m have 16 at first -
