Tell her that if she's sedated, she won't notice. At 14yo, she needs to learn to control such irrational fears. -
Can you describe the process to her so that she knows it isn’t as scary as she thinks? They’ll give her a headset to listen to some music and she can close her eyes and try to sleep?

The technician told us even adults who are claustrophobic gets anxiety attack when they are offered this option. Makes us feel worried. It is hard to see our children suffer through the pain . Her Headache used to be on and off before but now she has it for days in a row. She sometimes ends up vomitting.

MRI is not that bad. Talk to your daughter. The diagnosis for her condition is very important.

I went thru the head MRI before…
and yes, initially, it may seems scary to be alone in the " tunnel" and the loud thumping noises when the scanner starts…
But she can put on the headpiece to listen to some music…( to mask off the noises)
And there is an intercom in the room where she can speak to someone at any time…
Try explaining the whole process to her and assures her that it wont take long and there is nothing that she needs to be afraid of…
A constant headache needs to be thoroughly checked… -
If your dd is that nervous, sedation is probably the best option. Explain to her the importance of having an MRI done given her condition. If the technician allows, accompany her into the room before the procedure just to reassure her while they explain the procedure and put on the headset for her. And let her know you’ll be waiting outside and she can call you anytime?

Hi, Chillipadis.
You can ask your doctor to refer her to the new MRI at the medical center at 6th floor at Lucky plaza. It’s not the "dark tunnel" version, noise greatly reduced, earphones for soothing music. It’s about $1-1.5k.
But she’d still need to remain motionless for 30mins or more, or the result would fail.
