All About Teaching Values
-
values is very important to my family. I always show them the right things to do
-
Kids follow what we do and not what we say. There was once I told my kids not to fight and the reasons etc etc and then I got angry with daddy and scolded him and the look on my kids’ faces was priceless. Since then, I have also watched myself much more and tried to be more patient.

Hi, would like to share this inspirational video on the youtube with all the mummies and daddies here. I watched this video during one of the motivational talks conducted for the kiddos by an external vendor when I was teaching at my ex-school. The video was on a former Olympic sprinter, Derek Redmond.
I was very touched when I watched how Derek Redmond persevered and completed the 400-metre race in the semi-finals of the Barcelona Olympic Games 1992 despite pulling his hamstring.
There will be times when we face obstacles or even failure in life. Do we give up? Or do we grit our teeth and persevere? It takes a lot of mental strength to continue the tough journey. Redmond is a true inspiration for all of us although I would not encourage anyone to run with a torn hamstring. Even in the face of failure, Redmond did not quit. He might not have won the race but in my eyes, he was a champion. He really showed us what pure grit and determination means.
The love and support from his father also serves as a reminder to parents that it is important to be always there for your kids even if they may not be doing well academically or in other aspects. Help your kids to move forward.
I can't remember who came in first. However, I can remember who came in last.
Never give up.
P.S. Sorry. Tried to embed Youtube video but was not successful. Could someone enlighten me on how to embed Youtube video on the forum? -

Hi, mongz. Glad you like the video

I showed it to my 4 and 6 yr old girls. My 6 yr old cried after watching it. I guess the effect is good since she can read the words. I read the words to my 4 yr old and although she is quite affected as well, she was asking alot of \"not so relevant\" questions about why he was in so much pain and why he cried and why they all start at different starting line since they are racing...haha! -
Hi. Would like to share an award-winning documentary that you can watch on Youtube. It is about a teacher from a primary school in Kanazawa, northwest of Tokyo, Japan, Toshiro Kanamori.
\"What's the most important thing this year?\" asks Toshiro Kanamori to his students.
\"To be happy!\" comes the joyous response.
Kanamori Sensai believes that it is important to be happy. He reminds his pupils that they go to school to understand how to be happy and to learn to care for one another.
Highly recommended for parents who think that it is important to nurture our kids to have empathy and care for others.

Hey…have you all heard about 弟子规? It is the traditional moral values taught by Kong Zi. I think it is very good and as parents, it is very important that adults set a good example. Of course not forgetting that the media now is a super bad influence, the more we need a set of rules for the child to follow.
