The demands on DSA students can be expected are top performance in their talent domains+ to bridge the expected academic gap (school with high academic expectation and DSA student likely to have results that do not meet the S1 COP) .
I think the shortlisted candidates for RGS selection tests are very stringent.
Most if not all candidates that went for selections tests for all academics domains should have all ten rows filled up suggesting these girls can easily cope with heavy schedules and perform well.

I don’t think having many talents will translate to academic strength too. -

No interviews? Because the applicants’ P5/6 AL scores already meet the school’s S1 intake COP? Or school is not considering whether applicants will fit the demands that DSA may bring to them?
I’ve no idea …. It just ended there and then right after the analysis . But I guess for academic DSA , the schools would have already taken into account the overall AL of the applicants. -

I remember in one previous post that someone mentioned a girl with better portfolio in VA was not shortlisted as her AL score was more than 10. Based on that, I believe those shortlisted , should have results around AL6 and below.

Btw, what is the commitment for DSA academic domains? Math means to join math Olympiad, language to join writing / debates competition? -

No idea. Should be. Other parents can shed some lights on the commitments and expectations.

I believe the commitment level for dsa academic are quite minimal. For nygh, there are maths science and bilingualism. For MO comps, there is a selection test for all girls to qualify so naturally I assume the Maths dsa girls naturally qualified by virtue of their accomplishments. I am not aware of any science olympiads that are as big as the MOs. For bilingualism school organise or take part in some Chinese language comps throughout the year but I don’t think every dsa girl participated since there is a limited number of participants allowable. So I would say dsa commitment for acad is minimal. For innovation, I don’t even know what the girls are expected to commit into after joining the school.

Does it mean CO will be given without interviews? Any parents can share their DD experience for those who successfully DSA-ed into RGS via academic domain? TIA

Anyway, we should not be too bias and harsh on students who get in through DSA , lots of those got ind through DSA perform and cope well in their secondary school.
No one really look into and discuss whether those get in through psle score can cope well or not. -

I doubt that (or at least hope that's not true). If the student's score was already AL6 and below, the DSA would be less necessary. It still is a good way to get into a school but the DSA program is intended to allow students who have strengths in one area but perhaps not others to get into the school and excel. So, if a student is a top performer in English (and everything to do with the language) but weak/mediocre in other subjects, e.g. Maths and Science, that student might end up with an AL score closer to 10. The DSA provides that student an opportunity to enter the school based on his/her English talent notwithstanding the weaker AL score.
I remember in one previous post that someone mentioned a girl with better portfolio in VA was not shortlisted as her AL score was more than 10. Based on that, I believe those shortlisted , should have results around AL6 and below.
Again, this is based on my hope rather than my own experience. -

My guess is that they are OK with girls a couple of points (+/-) above the S1 COP (Academic + CYL/AEP/MEP). I believe last year there were some AL7s that made it through and this year there have been some AL7s that interviewed (these ALs are only P5/P6 SA1 anyways, kids may score differently at PSLE). As others have mentioned, for very high performing athletes/CCA, there is probably even more room.

.....
For the academic domains, I think the reality is that most of the girls that have the domains specific talent RGS is looking for will also be in the AL4-AL6 range. I.e. hitting the S1 COP is not a prerequisite for DSA, but just that most of the shortlisted applicants here will be in that range anyways. Still, I wouldn't discourage someone from applying if they have a strong profile for a domain just because the total AL score is (a bit?) higher than AL6.
Anyways, good luck to your child and hope the good news comes through! :rahrah:
