May I ask is there differences in selection camp activities for NUSH science and math domain ?

Anyone registered for CHS open house and gotten confirmation sms? Wondering if they have already sent out. So far have not received anything.

I am trying to search for answer and chance upon this. My DS received an invitation to apply DSA to RI today, the letter was sent directly to his school. He won medals in the recent NSG T&F which was just concluded on Wed. We are very surprise to receive the letter too, didnt know got such thing as invitation to apply.
We asked if he wants to continue doing T&F in sec school. He said he doesn’t mind to continue to do T&F but if given a choice, he would like to join the school debate team. He has AL score of 5 + Merit for HMT in his P5 SA2. He also has MO certs but not the gold type as he never attend any MO training. We are still in dilemma if we should apply DSA or to try to get in good schools via his own PSLE result….we are not sure if we want him to go thru Sports route. Anyone has similar experience can share?
I know invitation is not a confirm seat, but chances should be relatively high esp with his consistent school result. -
Follow his heart desire.
Didn’t your son mention that if given a choice, he would prefer debate ?
See, debate is his first choice, not this track & field thing. He should be able to enter RI by PSLE score and attend debate audition when 2023 Sec 1 start.
Must stand firm, on what your son truly wants. Worse, if RI were to give your son track and field CO, and this not really what he wants, then end up he will be in dilemma : should he accept RI (CO) or not, in Track & field ? And If he were to accept the CO, will be miserable, if tied down to something he half hearted only, for the next 6 years ahead.
Frankly, if debate is what he wants, then just go for a good Secondary school that offers DSA (debate), regardless of RI or any other good Secondary school. Ask your son to answer this qn honestly :-
For the next 6 years ahead :-
If school were to offer him debate vs. Track and field, which one will he go for ?
Your son, cannot bluff himself -

Hi and congrats. I think there is no right answer and ultimately leave it up to the child to decide.

One thing to keep in mind, I believe debate CCA is usually one of the hotter choices and he may or may not be able to get a seat (regardless of which school enter if go via PSLE / S1 posting).
So if OK to try whatever school qualify for and try new things, whether debate or something else, then can give it a pass. Or, if prefer to try to lock up a seat (as you mention, seem like odds are relatively good) and not have so much riding on four papers later this year then can go the DSA route if comfortable with T&F. My kid is not in sports CCA but my impression is they are one of the more demanding CCA schedules. I'm sure your kid can handle it fine and I do think there are a lot of good things that come out of student athletes, so really just a question of how he wants to spend his time.
Good luck! -

I believe they are the same but NUSH has not done this for the last two years. May be able to find some answers in the 2019 DSA or NUSH threads. Or ask on the 21st (May). Good luck!

Date is fixed (from those that know)? So far the website has a lot less info compared to last year (although says more coming in early-May).
DHS - 21 May (e-open house or in-person?) -

According to source, the date is indicated in DHS student's handbook and is likely to be in-person open house. Best is to look out for updates on DHS website.

Thanks 🙏🏻 We will just apply first, if eventually he receive the CO, we will then let him decide to proceed or not. Need to see if his school results are consistent across SA1 and Prelim, then we can gauge his PSLE performance…he is also the president of his school chess club, we are also considering to submit thru leadership? Will see….
