In a dilemma here Whether to use two choices for one school or to spread out the choices. DC has two schools he’s interested in and undecided about the third choice. Both schools he likes are not that realistic choices but he wants to try anyway. Should we spread out the choices or just try for the two schools he likes?
You mentioned that both are not realistic choices so imho to use two choices for one school is really like throwing good money after bad.
But then again, pls only DSA to a sch that your kid would consider accepting and not bcoz of FOMO. Of course, there might be the firm fav between the 3 but personally, I would encourage my kid to use the third choice only if he has some interest in that sch. DSA is after all, a double-edge sword. -

Technically, still the same talent area.
in fact, during the recent RI open house, a year 1 student went on stage to share his unique DSA experience.
He DSA-ed for Track (hurdles I think)
went for trails
was advised to try for Javelin
went back for Javelin trials the next day
Got his CO
Got Javelin Gold for the recent NSG.
MOE goes by Category / Talent Area (and not “domain”). Hence, he would still be within Sports and Games / Track and Field. -

If he applies for a 3rd school, which he is not keen on, and only receives an offer for that school, that will create a dilemma. I would suggest only applying for the ones he is keen on, and if he doesn't get offers, then just focus on the exams.

Don't waste precious time, attending interviews, at half hearted schools.
Why ?
Because if half hearted school offer you CO / wait list, end up,
u be in a dilemma. -

I was just sharing a unique example which sounded interesting.
The dsa panel for that RI boy was good at spotting talent ! (Spirit of dsa exemplified) -

He did not say
Thanks for sharing! Has he by any chance shared or hinted his AL profile or whether he did well academically?
I did not ask
But the sch used these words “the rigor of schoool work in RI” many times. I think need to read between the lines to aga aga. -
I emailed RI to ask whether DSA applicants with high AL point during P5/6 will not be considered. RI replied this
“ Your child will need to achieve a PSLE score that qualifies for Posting Group 3” -

This is a standard, diplomatic answer / reply, given by all DSA Secondary schools in Singapore. Not just by RI only. -
