Yes, of course this is true !
Hi, I’ve heard for schools (e.g. ACSI, SCGS, SNGS, MGS, VS, CGS, etc) with dual track (i.e. IP and O Levels), the school tends to offer O Level track for DSA students even if you specify preference for IP track during the DSA application.
May I know if anyone has experience or info on whether this is true? Our inclination is IP as results are more or less within IP COP, so don’t want to waste a chance to apply and in the end get offered for O level track. Many thanks! 😊
In any of those schools that u named above -
One may apply for IP curriculum track (DSA).
But,
If after attending the short listed Sports / Performance Arts trial (s) / academic, individual subject tests
+
especially after attending an interview,
+
after scrutinized your P5 / P6 school exam results,
if we find that for some reason(s) u are not suitable for IP curriculum, DSA Secondary schools may counter offer you O level track instead, if the DSA school applied for is still interested in your child after all.
But of course,
u may reject (turn down) the O level DSA offer & rely upon your own actual PSLE results released in November month, to enter your desired (dream) IP Secondary school via MOE S1 posting, instead. It is not compulsory to accept the DSA offer, if u are not even interested. -
Hi phtthp, thks for your reply! Yes, I heard my friend’s friend’s child got AL5-6 throughout the primary school years and still got offered for O level track which is puzzling to me and that was not even in the academic domain.
So, I am thinking this is basically throwing one DSA chance away (for those opting for IP with inclination to go to those schools that also offer O level track as we like their culture, environment, etc). -

Is this the case only in recent years? I know kids thru DSA sports offered IP in dual track schools.

Most of the kids I know who applied thru DSA got into IP if they are usually single digit scorer… if they are not single digit scorer in p5 or P6… they will be offered O track instead.

Hi,
Would like to share that i have friends’ kids who scored AL10-12 (P5/P6), prelims AL11 was offered CO to RGS via DSA. PSLE, absent.
Another one applied for st nicks, was offered IP when O level was e option chosen by the parents. Scored AL10-11 (P5/6), Prelims AL12. PSLE AL6.
Hope it helps. -
I know someone Prelim and PSLE AL12. DSA ACSI offered IP.

Hi, would like to ask if there’s chances to apply DSA in leadership if my child is only a prefect ExCo… Or DSA chinese dance if my child only have ballet background but sport CCA in school. Her results in the range of AL5 - AL7.

Hi May I check when do we need to reply our acceptance of CO? Before or after PSLE result is out?
Do we have a chance to look at the actual PSLE result to determine whether to accept the DSA or to use PSLE result for S1 posting? -

I recall my DD's DSA was confirmed on the day of PSLE results itself. How can any decision be made before that??
