Very profound, SL. Can't help but agree with what Jen pointed out.

Well, it has been a couple of days since this dog came into your house. How has it been?

It is expected that children will be excited and everyone will fumble. But over the last day or 2 any semblance of order achieved regarding the routine and care for the dog?

Whether it be short term or if you eventually decide to adopt it. A routine needs to be established.

At the end of the day, many people can say many things but you and your DH need to come to an agreement and decision.

People like me who have dogs will extol the virtues of owning a dog while those who are adverse to having pets will put up their arguments against having pets.

Let me know if it is confirmed that the dog is abandoned and have decided not to keep it. Maybe I can help reach out to people who might be interested in adopting it.

leeyl, make use of social media -quite common do see people post in FB aact for adoption.
I still think it is not difficult to find dog lover to adopt a GR - people who dun mind big dog are happy to receive good breed to adopt.
funz should have quite a gd network of dog lovers connection 🙂

I know 1st hand how quickly a dog like a GR can steal your heart. Leeyl have some tough decisions to make.

They are generally not noisy, whole lot of goofy and totally affectionate towards everyone and highly trainable which is also why it is one of the popular breed as therapy dogs.

                  lee_yl,

WOW! You and your family is so kind and so helpful towards the GR. Your DD1 is really very thoughful.

If.....I have a chance to go through what you have experience, I will quickly tell my DH that this GR is a God SEND to us and WE MUST keep it. :rotflmao: Coz I am taking every opportunity to convince DH to keep dog lah. 🙏

Anyway, pls do make a decision with your family. Keeping pet is for life. I am sure you know what to do....

                    @Janet,
I know. 你越讲,我的心越乱。We want to keep but at the same time, there are so many other considerations. I myself only 50kg+ and the dog is already 40kg. It is huge and I am quite scared of it due to its large size. However, I see that DH is getting more and more emotionally attached to the dog.
we used to rear dogs when brother and I were in our teens...but they are to look after the house and not the cutey type.
don't mind me saying, your other half knows how busy you are everyday...keeping the dog is going to add to your workload.
you know and I know why you cannot keep the dog...the GIRLS are already wearing you out.
hubby used to have a dog and he knows the responsibilities of maintaining one. I've clearly stated there will be NO animals of any kind - no fins, no beak, no 4 legged. bringing a dog to see the vet is more expensive than a human being.

I always have the fear of sending abandoned older pets to SPCA. During my time when I was younger then, I heard this veterinary told one of the customers that abandon the older pets to SPCA most likely will be put to sleep. It ingrained to my brain then and even now. Not too sure does that holds true today. Coz keep reading that Singapore has problem housing abandoned dogs.

Besides, I don't trust SPCA. I don't really know what exactly they do except keep hearing horror story. But then, can't really blame them, as resources are tight. I always felt that the law should be stiff on pet owners.

I really hate it when pets owners abandoned dogs.

I used to have an obsese dog even though the doggie had a walk every night. Obese is because I kept feeding it as I thought eating is good life. Also I pampered the doggie alot. But when the doggie went for yearly checkup....the vet will surely :censored: . :rotflmao: So no choice gotta cut down on his food and increase the exercise. I had my doggie all the way till he passed away. He brought us nothing but joy. He was my companion during my student life, my alarm clock and he is the only one that stayed up late with me into the night when I burned mid-night oil. :please:

Now we are not sure if the dog was lost or the owner abandoned it.

Doggie doesn’t eat those dried kibbles unless I mix with half a can of mashed beef. It is very guai, doesn’t move much and doesn’t bark at all, weird. Sis told me to put newspaper and towel for it to pee and poo.

Anyway, I am feeling so mentally and physically exhausted and very guilty cos PSLE is near. Wasted so much time and energy on the poor stray dog since yesterday.
Put it this way, GR was sent to your family by God! This is the Year of the Dog and your PSLE child was also born in the Year of the Dog, so heavenly blessings and good karma are coming your way, thanks to your kind heart and compassion towards this Dog. :imanangel:

But please do some accounting first.
