In this case, do they hv to pay a penalty for the application?
My concern is some just apply first when relationship is still not double confirmed. After breakup and forfeit the BTO, this deprives genuine buyers
      https://blog.moneysmart.sg/property/break-up-bto-application-hdb/

No young couple madly in love with each other would think they might break up in 4yrs time.

But it is one fast way to make money (for young couples). Kena BTO in matured estate is like striking TOTO. I have asked my cousins to apply for the Bishan one (400m to Bishan MRT!)
Yup! Sounds familiar. When I finished A levels, one of my Bible Study frds 青梅竹马 since kindergarten & when they were first married, we s’times cook at their place & when ran out of sauce or cutleries, this “young man” then was able to hit the right cabinet & retrieve for us midst of our cooking & exclaim that “need to replenish on next grocery xxx yyy. My dream type.

Years later when I met hubby, was impressed he willing to shop with me & involved in selection. These type hor, works for me. Down to earth & proactive with lifeskills type. Training DS & DD to be equipped with good lifeskills & good character to be the person to contribute happiness to their own families next time when I’ve no eyes to see up fr under.

Wait a min! So you didn't end up marrying the one you applied hdb with at 18?

Hello, don’t ask so much lah... 😂

I have seen a few young couples broke up before their BTO arrives
Now I’ve to clear the kpo curious maths.

I applied with my mum at age 18, then started paying with my CPF thereafter. I still hv this place but it’s giving us good rental as I hv my own matrimonial home.

No lah, I’ve never applied any flat with anybody else other than mum. Hubby bought his own pte property for our family.

@ lee_yl The unfortunate reality is there are young ppl who wld plung into applying for BTOs when relationship not stable (the romantics glasses shattered) and broke up. Usually the girls are the ones picking up the mess. If BTO not issued still neat break, But when BTO signed & home furnished, they’ve to put all home furnishings up for sale with pain in their hearts (just to recover part of their sunk in finances).

The friend’s (undergrad) daughter did not seek parental permission before applying BTO. I mean if I were the parent, and I said no, would my (abv 21yo) daughter still listen to me then?

If I said no, that means I won’t give them a single cent to help with their downpayment, then where the young couple find the $$? From the boy’s parents??? Lol.

We met a couple like that too..seems only the flat is holding them on..deferred the finalisation of ownership at least one time we heard. Both already living like ..emm..even not good friends also more cordial than them. Quite sad lor.
