Learning cycling

hmmm…maybe i shld give it a try then…or at least get DH to do it.

Ya… who knows you can save $200 and travelling time. haha.
-
true lah, the good thing is, i know i have someone to fall back on should my efforts fail.
-
Of course it's best if they can learn it by themselves...that would be the most economical. But when all else failed, you know there's help available.

i have two boys, aged 6 and 4.
i took off my kids' training wheels on 1st of may and taught them a bit...... you know, the basic things like dont go fast, dont stop n keep peddling, if you're falling to one side then turn your handlebar the same direction to maintain balance, keep body balanced etc......
then i remembered something from my old days...... and this is the BIG TIP - release a bit of the air pressure in the tyres, so that its about 3/4 pressured.
with the tyre a bit flat, its easier to balance! dont deflate the tyre, just a bit flat with the kid on it. the kid will find it easier to balance cos the surface area of the tyre in contact with the ground is bigger now......
then slowly increase the tyre pressure as your kids start to ride around on his own and get better, until he can ride with fully pressured tyres......
my older boy began cycling on the 3rd day

Starting to learn cycling, must learn balancing first. Place the legs straight, feet touching floor and use the legs to push the bike forward. Try for many times till confident on balancing. Then start with small pedalling with one foot on pedal, the other foot on floor. Slowly pedal half a cycle with one foot, the other foot that touches the floor, slowly lift up to keep a distance with the floor. Eventually lift up the foot as far as you can from the floor till confident enough to place it on the pedal. That's how my dd learned when she was young. Hope the explanation is clear enough.

Try Balance Bike. Got one for my kids and they are doing fine and having lots of fun.
But it’s suitable for kids till around 5 years old. -
