Teeth Grinding
-
You’re welcomed! The stress doesn’t have to be " negative" stress - it can be excitement, sensory etc. Grinding is a way for the nervous or sensory system to calm itself down. I got my ds to do visualization, tense and relax especially the jaw and temples, this way he can feel the difference. Otherwise I tabuleh tahan the nightly grinding sound!!

we are lacking of some minerals, see the abstract below:
Other causes of grinding teeth in sleep are connected with different substances deficiency. One of them is pantothenic acid, also known as the anti-stress vitamin. Lack of calcium in our organism can lead to muscle involuntary movements.
Deficiency of magnesium causes muscle spasms, too. To prevent teeth grinding in these cases it’s necessary to take some calcium or magnesium tablets before going to bed. Researches have shown that it helps.

you are competing with makers of notebook pc for the magnesium, driving up prices for the rare metal, causing another round of trade dispute between China & Japan ..... :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

What are some of these relaxation techniques? My hubby grinds his teeth all the time, I am worried that he is too stressed up at work.My ds did that when he was 4 plus for half a year. I felt it was linked to stress so tried to address that.
Dh and his sister both did that, also linked to stress. It can damage the teeth, esp the molars, over the years. According to the dentist, dh's molars are as worn as someone ten years older than he is. For adults with chronic grinding, a teeth guard can be worn to protect the molars from excessive wear and tear. It is possible to grind until the teeth are excessively short, but this take years to happen. The grinding can also cause headache and jaw stiffness during the day. The best is still to address causes of stress and tension. At one stage I would get ds to practise relaxation techniques before sleeping (he had a hard time sleeping). -
I grind my teeth when I was a kid, and still now (I’m 27). My teeth is quite out but I’m wondering if the grinding is really the cause. Hope I can get braces in the coming years.

my daughter used to do that… she isn’t even aware of it. but now she doesn’t, anymore. it wasn’t really stress-induced, i think it’s just a phase of her childhood. don’t worry! usually it goes away around in her teens.
