hi all, this is my first post!

wanna find out how different is the integrated programme different from the O level track in terms for content. especially in Math and Science. some mentioned that they go into the JC syllabus? is that true?

I assume all of the students take pure sciences? is triple science a compulsory? and do they have A maths? or is it already integrated into the math syllabus for them?

Lots of questions. Thanks in advance ๐Ÿ˜„
IP is very different from O Level as they tend to teach faster and have more project work. It is quite possible for Sec 3 or Sec 4 IP students to go into JC syllabus. The details vary from school to school. Most IP schools have some kind of streaming or opportunities for subject selections at Sec 3. Again the options available vary from school to school. In HCI, Biology is an optional subject from Sec 3. I am not sure about other IP schools.

As wonderm said, different schools have different programmes. In some cases, yes, they do go into JC syllabus. I think most IP schools do pure Science. In Year 3 you get to choose your subject combi so you can choose to do more Humanities or Science subjects.

            Hi there,

Anyone knows of any IP school that gives a choice to students to opt for MT instead of HMT (Higher Chinese) ? I believe my son will struggle in Higher Chinese as he takes normal Chinese.

Any feedback on how hard is HMT in IP ? My sonโ€™s Chinese grade is average. Any feedback would be great to determine his education path.

            Thank you.

I believe you can choose to do MT in RI and ACSI.

Thanks Augmum for the info !

Anyone know if it is difficult to transit from pri school MT to HMT (Chinese) in IP ? If my DS now gets , say around marks 60 to 69 range in pri school for MT Chinese, would it pose a challenge for him to handle HMT in an IP school ?

Also, does IP school beef up those students who does MT (Chinese) in pri school, by giving them extra coaching to catch with their peers who originally has been doing HMT (Higher Chinese) ?

                    Thanks in advance.

Not all IP schools must take HCL. Only SAP IPs.
Not to frighten you but HCL in Sec Schools can be a little challenging, eg. in RV, its tough. However there are students who did not take HCL in Primary can still do well in Sec. I should say, interest and teachers play an important role.

NJC though not a SAP sec sch offers compulsory HMT to its students in JH1 and JH2. Come to 3rd year, can opt to drop HMT and do only MT.

My boy takes HMT in pri sch, a below avg pupil who miraclously scored a A for his MT and merit for his HMT at PSLE. Now in NJC, still a below avg student. He attends HMT tuition once a week and has recently asked me to coach him at home as the sch teacher and tutor do not explain the vocabulary in the textbook. He claimed his self study tactic is not helping him remember the meanings of the vocabulary, must hv sb to explain to him.
