If you remain inside the SAME school, Yes, can transfer easily.
Hi, thanks for reply.
DSA commitment is only to the 4 years (his is IP to a JC). No further commitment for the Sports in JC.
I read the offer letter also and the commitment to the Sports is to the Secondary School. Students are \"expected\" to honour their commitment for the 6 year program.
Reason I am posting is because I have read through KSP and seems like general interpretation is that you cannot transfer out if you are a DSA student. And that DSA students are not able to move out.
But I have also heard of a Boy from ACSI who DSAed into the O Level Program. At Sec 3, he transferred to the IB Program, technically no longer in the O Level Program and no longer bounded to the Sports.
So there are many intepretation but was hoping to hear from actually cases before I apply to the school.
Appreciate your feedbacks.
Why ?
Because
Is all done within the SAME identical school management ! It is called \"Internal\" Transfer.
Example
1)
a) Internal transfer taking place at end of Sec 2, starting Sec 3 IB, for (ACSI + MGS + SJI).
b) Internal transfer taking place at end of Sec 2 (O level), starting Sec 3 IP-A-level, for
Secondary schools like
(Victoria + Cedar / Catholic High + SCGS + St Nick).
2) But,
for IP-A-level destination bound students -
transfer
from one IP school to another different IP-A-level school,
from Year 1 (IP) to Year 6 (IP),
is Not allowed,
regardless whether u have entered by DSA or by PSLE AL score.
So,
if say, u attempt to seek Transfer, from Cedar Girls (IP, at end of Year 4) into RI (IP, starting Year 5)
Or
say, attempt to seek Transfer from Dunman High (IP, at end of Year 4) into Hwa Chong (IP, Year 5) -
MOE will not allow this Transfer.
3) But,
for IP students who cannot cope with IP curriculum, they will be identified at end of Sec 2 by their own school Form Teachers,
to enter into Sec 3 structured \"O-level\" classes opened, to help them.
For Non-DSA students-
If parents are not interested in their teenagers being transferred into these so called \"on demand\" internal, in-house Sec 3 O-level classes, to prepare for O-level,
parents can attempt to
transfer their teenagers out
either into
other O-level Secondary schools
or International IB schools willing to accept them ,
so that
they can start school afresh in another totally brand new school environment,
without the social stigma of being recognised by their fellow peers / school mates as, cannot cope with IP.
Because
some teenagers at the age of 15 or 16, don't like their fellow familiar classmates to ask them questions during recess time or during Cca training, like
\"hey, how come Sec 3, u get transferred from IP class into another class ? ... \" -
Dear parents,
I am looking for a home tutor for my son. He needs help in IP English and is currently in Year 4.
I am living in the east.
Do share with me (via pm) if you have any candidate in mind.
A million thanks in advance. -
Hi, just sharing about this tuition center that I came across when I sent my kid for a trial class. My kid is 15 years old and at the start of April, I noticed his results declining. So i started looking for tuition center to send my kid to and I saw this ad by Blue3 academy. They have secondary IP programmes so i just send my kid for a trial class there and he really enjoyed the class. He said it was informative and the teachers are rlly helpful so I signed him up for a term. Initially he did struggle cuz his foundation in IP was weak but thanks to the teachers, he finally managed to climb up to a B3 from a D7. In case any of you need the information about this tuition center, I'll link the website here. https://blue3academy.com/

MOE will not allow this Transfer.
Non-DSA IP students in Yr 1 and 2 to transfer to another IP school. Is it written anywhere that it will definitely be rejected by MOE?
Reason for wanting to transfer : the culture is too much for students to accept. Students felt they are forced to do things in ways that contradict with students' personal/family values/religious beliefs.
Even if students have done their research by going to open houses, spoke to people in that school etc... it is hard to totally understand what to expect of the culture until one is in the school.
If one wants to transfer to other IP schools, what is the best approach? -

I know it was used to be strictly not allowed. Every sch conduct their ip differently. And ip is a 6 yr programme. Even from ip to O level used to be not allowed.

Wld ip B be willing to accept student from ip A? How abt transfer from ib to ip or ip to ib? Transfer requires receiving sch to accept the student first, before seeking the first sch to release. If both schs are willing it is easier, no need moe to be involved.
Not sure what is the real reason. But ip schools receive different funding from moe. I wonder the fund is allocated by yearly or one off 6 years.
Can check the clauses stated in sch registration before sec 1. Independent school? Parents supposed to signed. -
(Edit: deleted the link to RGS application page. Read “posted to another secondary school under DSA”) cos saw “posted” and thought S1 posting 🙄
If the child has just started Y1 it’s still early days; why not give some time to settle in?
If the child is in Y2 then can apply like all the other kids who are applying. U can check with the target schools directly whether IP kids can apply or not. But how would the child know whether the target school is “more suitable” or not? Unless u avoid similar profile type of schools (SAP; religious). -
I think if you step back and look at everything that is going on in the education landscape (and society in general), it is quite obvious why the IP transfers are discouraged.
Whether they are not allowed (reading a few web pages, I wouldn’t conclude that they are), allowed if A, B, or C (if so) but not if X, Y, or Z, etc - I don’t know. But it would be easy to see why some circumstances are probably viewed more favourably than others.
