Your first choice for 2011 Secondary School...

hey, i have been thinking about this recently ie if ds can’t get into the IP schools, then what are the other alternatives? i stay at Toa Payoh. the better schools around here will be Catholic high and St Joseph. But what holds me back is their affiliation. they are affiliated to CJC, no offence here, but i would prefer that he goes to a better jc. Victoria is affiliated to VJC which is a good JC to go to but problem is, it is the east. not sure if i should enrol him into Victoria which is better if i think long term…then again, VJC is quite far away too:(

Toa Payoh to VS is not too far. From Google's map, it is 13km, 15 mins by car and 45 mins by bus. I think this is reasonable. VS is a very good school. Has very strong team spirits, strong in sports, good academic results. A very good all-rounded school. -

In a kaypoh mood
Why think or worry so much now?
Your ds taking PSLE this year?
Hv u tried going the DSA route to school of his choice?
It's not too late to look at school choices after u get a better feel
of his ballpark T score after his prelims.
U can narrow your choices after PSLE results are known mah
His T score will determine his choices
maybe he can go IP right?
Don't worry too much now
relax lah
 -

So ... go to a \"better\" jc! You don't have to limit yourself to CJC. NJC is a good choice too! So is Anderson. -
phankao:
NJC cut off points is 4 & 5 points. rather hard to get in if not via DSA at P6octopusmum:

HI all
my eldest ds is taking psle this year and yes, we have applied for dsa already. NUSH and NJC respectively. nush no chance liao since he didn’t even make it for the camp. waiting for njc results but i don’t have high hopes really. there is an interview portion which i think will be too tough for him…
so, being the type that likes to plan ahead, i am thinking of what other better schools are there.
njc cut off point 4 to 5 pts, is this the cut off point to get into the JC to do A levels? my time was not so low leh and i am an ex njcian !
of course, if his “O” results are good enough, i will consider better jcs but if not that good ,then the affiliation will help, right? then again, i think i am thinking too far ahead…
my son’s teacher never gives us an “estimate” t score for my child. i guess that will put too much stress on parents plus child and based on what, can the teacher come up with the estimate!?
