              hi meiah,

Oh! That's because this little girl you happen to bump into at your same block in (Toa Payoh) TYP - happen to attend morning enrichment class that morning you saw her, from 10.15 am - 11.15 am.

after this little girl finish her enrichment, then she will attend her 4 hrs PM session, from 11.45 am - 3.45 pm.

for PM session kids, all enrichment lessons are conducted in the morning.
for AM session kids, all enrichment lessons are conducted in the afternoon.

for TPY PM session kids who do not attend enrichment lesson, school bus normally come and fetch kids - around 10.50 am, reach school latest 11.30am. That same friend of mine staying at TPY Lorong 4, whose son K1 this year - told me so.

for PM session, after picking up TPY kids - next, the school bus travels down the streets of Bishan, turning in and out of Bishan streets. Oh! there are so many Bishan kids! Although there are many pre-schools, child care centres and kindergarten in Bishan, yet Newton kindergarten however remains popular with Bishan residents.

in fact, if you look at the entire school bus load comprising Bishan-TPY grc, close to 70% to 80% are Bishan resident kids. Once they board onto school bus, the entire bus become so noisy - like a fish market instantly! Boys and girls talk at top of their voices like a parrot, raise their voies, giggling and laughing away happily. Those sitting right in front rows raise their voice, turn their heads back, trying to talk / shout to their fellow school mates seated right at the back of the school bus, to be heard. Even when school bus Auntie keep asking them to tone down their voices, the kids just ignore her. They continue chit-chatting, happy chirpy bird!

some studious K2 kids are ... oblivious to the noise inside the school bus. They take out their tiny booklet of spelling and Chinese tingxie, trying to revise for that week. These are the hardworking pupils! One fine day, maybe turn out into scholars one day :imcool:

the last school bus stop is one - landed property private house, 3 storey semi-detached. It's been recently renovated - very beautiful white house, large, huge, attracting a lot of on-lookers from inside the school bus. When the school bus turn in here as a last stop to pick up the last student, many pupils exclaim 'Wow! house so beautiful ! So lovely, so big, so nice!'

Newton parents , if you have the time one day, do take a school bus ride one day. One day is ok. Auntie Ong won't mind you take school bus. Just enjoy the ride. Be pleasantly surprised by what you see! :boogie:

the school bus finally turn into Newton kindy school compound. Check the watch ... time reveals ... 11.30 am. Kids start to queue up two by two, happily taking the lift up to level 2.

around 11.36 am, PM school / form teachers come out - take the pupils' body temperature, check both their palm (for signs of HFMD), ask them to open up their mouth, shine a torch light in, check their open mouth (any mouth sore ?).

Teachers ask pupils queue up two by two, according to their PM class name, go toilet wash hands, before entering classrooms for - makan lunch time. 11.45 am sharp, PM kids start to eat lunch hungrily, lunch time until 12.15 pm. Different day, they lunch with either English or Chinese form teacher... happy social interaction.

next time you see her, say hi to her mother or caregiver, ask - is she going for enrichment, or where else, why so early ?

haha... not possible to ask since I only see her when I'm on mc! 😄

Mmm... from the way you describe the journey, I think it is entirely possible for the kid to board at 10.15am and reach sch at 11.30am.

Supposed my this TPY kid is the last one in TPY, by the time the bus safely move to Bishan, it'll be about 10.30am. Then so many Bishan kids, here 5 min and there 5 min maybe become 11am, then go Jln Peminpin weave in and out maybe finish 11.15am and travel to school and reach at 11.30am.

I'm making this assumption cos my dd's bus leave her sch at 3pm but after a few rounds in TPY, she reach home at about 3.45pm. And her's is a small bus.

The gal I think is N1 (my mil said so), so I think she has no enrichment.

                      info .. Chinese

to improve Chinese, may read Tamarind's blog spot.
Tamarind is a great, patient, wonderful mother! Parents can learn some useful tips from her - how she taught her daughter Chloe to read and write Chinese so well!

in China, their pupils' Primary 1 chinese - is equivalent to our Singapore pupils' Primary 3 chinese standard:
