Order from Dangdang

Does anyone have any idea whether I’ll be able to buy DVDs from Dangdang direct? Has anyone tried it before?

Just saw your post. See that you are buying DVDs. Please let me know if you manage to receive them safely. I tried to buy some cartoons the last round, but was advised by Peeka that I can't buy DVDs (potential censorship issue).hquek:
Btw, I rather pay for certainty, that is why I still prefer peeka. But I could be very wrong as to which is actually cheaper.
Yea I would rather certainty as well
As to which is cheaper depends on the contents of each individual shipment wouldn't it? I just bought 11 single-volume books, 1 set of 6 children books and 1 set of 4 dvds. Dangdang shipping costs me SGD$55 or so.
When my package comes I will use its volumetric weight to calculate peeka's costs. If peeka is significantly lower I will be sure to share my finding back here
:lovesite:
On the shipping charges, my last parcel through Peeka cost $16.66 (before GST and handling fee) for a size of 32*28*13 (11648 cubic cm). Is this considered small or medium? The wt on the other hand was about 5.4kg including the box (books are still in the box till now despite arriving here for a few months  ).
Not sure how much delivery from Dangdang would have been. Is it based on 50% of the books' list price? Unfortunately I didn't take note of the Dangdang list price at that time of ordering through Peeka. -

For me, I still find PK overall charges competitive, even with GST. Guess how they pack the box is very important. Pack compactly do help to reduce shipping cost.
I have just placed an order of 12 books through Peeka and the cost is about $60 (inclusvie of GST) before factor in the shipping cost.
Will update again once I have received the books to see how much does one book cost after add in the shipping cost.
Hi, recd the books from Peeka today.
I had paid about $74.00 (round up) for total 13 books and it worked out per book about $5.70.

Hi Busymom,
I've ordered before, cartoon dvds together with some other books. no problems with delivery.

Hi, I’m new to this forum. I’ve read through some of the posts here but am still unsure how peeka calculate the volume. Does it mean that if I purchase some books with varying sizes, Peeka will only look at the size of the biggest book?

How long did the delivery take for you this time round? -
Hi Eskimo
I ordered on 31 May and the package arrived yesterday, so it’s about 1.5 months.
In terms of packing, peeka is still better. The books were in better shape. For this latest order direct from dangdang (11 books and 6 DVDs), my shipping charges comes up to S$35 thereabouts when the size of the parcel is smaller than my last peeka order and the weight is also so much lighter. But no choice, as I wanted to buy DVD. -
Hi,
was hoping if somebody can help me on the shipping rates from dangdang…
I am deciding if I should purchase directly from dangdang or with the SMH spree…
As its seems that the shipping rates from the spree are so cheap… at only 20% of the books fees??
Does anyone has any idea as to why is the shipping fee so low comparing to what DD charges me 50% of the original price of my books?
Thanks much in advance! -
Hi san,
Spree organisers have bulk volume which means there’s economy of scale when it comes to shipping cost. DD sends your parcel on its own, regardless of your purchase quantity, so there’s no economies of scale. More importantly, you may want to factor in the time to get your books. Direct order from DD takes about 2 months. If u are not in a hurry for your books, you can afford this option. Otherwise, you may want to consider joining spree or other conceirge options like peeka.
Or check if you have friends who can help you buy in china and bring them back, it will be faster that way. Delivery within china is super fast. I was pleasantly surprised that their delivery times include the weekends too.
