I think the \"shipped out\" date means the date that the dangdang staff sent to the post office. It does not mean that the parcel is really out of China on that day. The post office may take a long time to ship out the parcels

Yup, for my case, maybe due to bad weather at that time, it took about a month from time of dispatch from warehouse to clear custom in Guangzhou. I wonder, for overseas add, is there a specific place that they can only send for clearance? Mine was posted from Jinan and cleared custom in Guangzhou

      SAHM_TAN,
How do you find out about these details ?

All I know is that all books are sent out from Beijing[/quote]Because late last year, think due to bad weather my orders were late by 4 wks. So I wrote to DD, they gave me the tracking number and I check via this website http://intmail.183.com.cn/item/trace/itemTraceAction.do?action=Enter, that's how I know the movement of my order within China.

Below is an example of one of my orders. It went out from DD on 25 Nov:

item No. Year Status Location Destination Country Date Recipient's Signature

      RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2010 posting SINGAPORE 2010-11-30

RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2010 arrival at transit office of exchange JINAN SINGAPORE 2010-12-01

RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2010 departure from transit office of exchange JINAN SINGAPORE 2010-12-01

RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2010 arrival at transit office of exchange GUANGZHOU SINGAPORE 2010-12-16
RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2010 arrival at transit office of exchange GUANGZHOU SINGAPORE 2010-12-16

RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2010 departure from outward office of exchange GUANGZHOU SINGAPORE 2010-12-17

RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2011 arrival at inward office of exchange SINGAPORE SINGAPORE 2011-02-18

RRxxxxxxxxxCN 2011 final delivery SINGAPORE SINGAPORE 2011-02-21

I checked the Singpost's site to track the local movement

The best is to have someone in China receive the books for me. My hubby is working there now. He received the books within 24 hours after I placed the order !
Yes, that's the best. Less hair tearing moments.

          SAHM_TAN,

Thank you very much for the link.

I just found out that one parcel was shown as shipped out from dangdang.com on 28 Jan 2011. But on the website that you provided, posting was only done on 28 Feb 2011. It was sitting somewhere for an entire month !

Wait, are the quality of the books bad? I thought all the books were brand new??

Yes all the books are brand new. However, since China is very polluted, if the books you ordered have been sitting on the shelf for a few years, they may look very old. Those books that are selling fast will look very new. In fact, most of the books that I ordered are in pristine condition.

                Hello all,

I have recently received my massive dangdang orders which came in a sack  Quite unique, the shipping is quite fast considering I expected it mid to end April. In terms of shipment, the box was nearly destroyed (ie lost its shape but the books by and large are quite intact and only one was a little dented. Which is the important thing! Box is not so important.

Its very economical to order from dangdang, I must say... now my challenge is to read all this chinese books before I teach my kiddo!

                    Hi SAHM

Finally I managed to trace the status of the two purchases that I had ordered in end of February.

RRXXXXXXXXXCN 2011 departure from outward office of exchange SINGAPORE GUANGZHOU 2011-03-11

RRXXXXXXXXXXCN 2011 departure from outward office of exchange SINGAPORE GUANGZHOU 2011-03-09

If I add in another 2 months, that mean it will reach here around 9 - 11 May 11.

The lead time is more than 8 weeks now! :slapshead:

Glad to know that you received your books. I also received a few parcels in sacks šŸ˜‰

Yes the books are really cheap compared to what we can get in Singapore, so it is still worth waiting.

You can also try re-selling your books after your kids have read them šŸ˜‰

Once you see \"departure from outward office of exchange\", then it may take about 5 weeks to reach Singapore. This is the case for my 2 of recent purchases.
