Order from Dangdang

Hi
I tried ordering from Peeka and am excited to see how fast the order goes thru and goods received at Peeka’s China office. As my chinese is very weak, I’m not sure how to find the specifications of the package to calc an estimate shipping charge. A friend told me vpost has a China address now. Has anyone used vpost’s service before and is it cheaper to use vpost? Thx. -
i only used vpost europe before, both times got rude shock as the shipping is more ex than expected. Won’t be trying vpost china anytime soon. no confidence they are any cheaper.

Ok. Thx.

Did you specify economy shipping ? The 3 and 7 day shipping rates are very expensive.
If you use economy shipping with peeka, they calculate using the volume, not the weight. Just to give you an example, my first order is
39x22x27 cm
Shipping cost is S$21.27. I have a total of 35 books in this order. Peeka will send you another message to inform you of the size of your parcel and the shipping cost. It is not necessary for you to find out the specifications. You will need to pay the shipping charge before Peeka delivers the parcel to your home.
vpost uses the actual weight or volume, whichever is higher. I agree with hquek and I will not use vpost for China to buy books. -
Hi Tamarind
Yes I picked economy shipping. (I used your instructions on how to order) I got my shipping cost a day after I posted the above. And it came up to about S$21. I can't believe how fast the whole process took and my books are due to arrive in 10-12 days (from today). Yay.
Thx for the great tip. -

Hi,
Do they charge GST and service charge?
Is SGD21 include local delivery?
Thanks in advance. -
Hi Kelly2009,
The payment is made in 2 parts. Part 1 is when I 1st ordered my books. They included their service charge ($5 in my case) and GST in that payment. You have to pay min 80% of that total before they will buy the books for you. Part 2 is after they informed me that they have received my books and it is on it’s way to SG and they tell me the remainder due (including shipping). In my case, the shipping portion is about $21. I’m not sure abt the local delivery but I get the impression from their website that it is included in their price.
After reading about how one has to wait nearly forever if you buy direct from DD and all the credit card nightmares, I’m impressed with the speed of purchase using Peeka. I ordered on Thursday night and paid the 80%. Fri I receive emails saying they have received payment and ordered. Sat I receive another email saying the books have reached their China office. Tue I receive emails that it’s on its way to SG and request for Part 2 payment. So far so good, fingers crossed no nightmares ahead for me.

Dear all,
The second payment for peeka includes local delivery. -
I just ordered from DangDang few weeks ago based on Tamarind's recommendations
From this forum, I understand that some mommies actually called Singpost to check if there's any package for them from overseas. Which dept should I call and what info do they need from me? Tracking number from DangDang?
I wanted to check with DangDang but I can't write in Chinese
Somehow, I managed to purchase from them successfully with Google translate.
I tried to email them in English two weeks ago but no response so far. Thought of using google translate to draft a Chinese email for me but in the end it didn't sounds right :slapshead:
Kind of panic now because I'm moving house soon. Can anyone help me, please? :please:
