      Funx3:

Wow, Even Parents Cannot Work Like That .... 😐 😐
      Precisely!

Errrrrrrr .... Just Curious, Parents Also Stay Up to Accompany the Poor Child?
Sometimes my aunt will stay up with her but if it's too late, she will turn in first because she has some health problems, so need to have enough rest. Not sure of the other parents though.

The Kids Will Puncture Very Soon ....
OR Fall Sick Very Soon ....
This is what I thought so too... they could have collapsed before they are able to get the desired results. Poor kids.

Don't See the Logic of So Much Papers Done, But Not Marked .... Or Go Thru Difficult Ones ....
      Agree.

May B the Teacher Sleep Early, Not at 2am+, So Not Enough Time To Mark ALL the Papers .... πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰
Btw, this school is in the east. Not sure if they still practising this. My cousin took her PSLE 2 years back.

        sall:
Teachers are in a very difficult position. If they don't give past yr paper or not enough homework, the parents complain and the principal will go after the teachers. If they give too much homework or past yr papers, the parents also complain. When they ask the students to stay back for remedial or to have extra lessons during sch holidays, the parents complain. If they don't , the parents complained that the teachers are unconcerned and lazy. It is impossible to ask the different subject teachers to coordinate to give homework to students, teachers are already so over-loaded with work, please don't give them another headache, ie, to coordinate the homework given. The more the students practise, the more they gain. Sometimes, it may not be possible to go thru all the papers, the weaker students can approach the tr privately for help. Don't blame the teachers for students not having enough sleep or rest. It is the highly competitive system, teachers also don't have enough sleep or rest.

Some schools have a system of:
Monday/Wednesday - only English and Chinese homework given
Tuesday/Thursday - only Maths and Science homework given
Friday - All subjects can give homework but limit to 5 pages per subject

I think if the schools follow a system like the above, it will be better for the students.

My kids are damn blessed!. At primary 6 level, after 10.15pm, strictly no home work. Must be in bed by 10.45.pm. It’s a family’s practice.

Of course that would be nice. But what happen if, your kids are in my cousin's school giving tons and piles of work to do everyday and all must be completed and handed in the next day?

Mine is in P6 this year. So far, touch wood, still do not see the 'kiasuness' in their school or teachers yet. But I believe after the CNY, we should start to see the work load increase already but hopefully it's not like that sch of my cousin, such madness. πŸ™

Both my kids chiong immediately after lunch when they returned back from school. On several occassions whereby my dd failed to complete her hw by 10.15pm, i had asked her to stop immediately and wrote a note to her teacher.

So far, had not received any complaint from any teacher regarding the above.

Wow, and the teachers are ok with that? Everytime? Yours taken PSLE already?

Because I think most schools will give moderate amount of homework and probably slightly more for those in P6, unlike my cousin's, so should be manageable if the kids are able to manage their time well.

Btw, just curious, may I know how do you usually write for such cases like you've just mentioned? I do not think most teachers are readily willing to accept that. Who knows, I may try it one day too should my girl's work is really overloaded

But you are right in controlling them to be asleep by certain time. I always believe that having enough rest helps in getting better results too (one of the main factors).

                :salute:

We more or less have the same view.

I have two kids, one at jc1 and another at jc2. At PSLE, which is the most important exam for kids, my view is that parents need to strike a balance between pushing hard and adequate play and rest. My ds is a fast doer whereas my dd tends to idle around in her lower primary days. At primary 6, i would ensure that she finished her homework, however, there were several occassions whereby the workload was overwhelming. On such occassions, i had written to her teachers to explain why she couldn't finished her hw given the circumstances. Her teachers accepted my explainations.

As my son is attempting the most important common exam of his life this year (A-level), he has adopted the good practice of going to bed at 10.45pm.

I can’t recall but they are residing in Tampines and the school is some where near their place. Sorry.
