....have 1 teacher for 3 subjects and they all love to focus on maths and not pay enough attention on science.... 😉 So I guess it's not uncommon to have this practice. Sometimes I do wonder why science is the least focused on. 😐 Afterall, it's not easy with all the process skills involved these days.

Guess Maths, if Got the Method Correct, then Can Get it Over and Done With Early in the Year ....
Then Can Focus Later in the year to Expose the Kids to the More Varied Aspects of SC Q?

Science is not DD's forte so I hope that there's enough time for her to process all the new knowledge later in the year. DD usually loses marks in MCQ and does better in Section B. :scratchhead: Heard from friends that their kids are the opposite....can get full marks for MCQ and loses marks in open-ended questions. What about your kids? Do they fare better in MCQ or Open-ended questions?[/quote]Mine is the Opposite of Yours, Better at MCQ but can Lose lots of Marks for Section B .... T want them to answer in their RIGID set of Words, else Get Zero even if got similar meaning ....

        Hi Brenda,

37-39 is an excellent mark. :celebrate: I haven't seen these marks for a long time in DD's CL compo...heehee.

Usually my DD also do better with ther compo when it's done at home. Not because I edit her work but because she doesn't stick to the stipulated time frame at home and takes her time to plan her plot and check the e-dictionary. I'm sure in exam conditions when she's rushing for time, it'll be a different. In addition, lots of wrong characters... so will lose 1/2 mark for every wrong character. :slapshead:

        Hi Tinkerbelle

Quite true that under the exam condition when rushing of time is not easy to produce a good quality of compo. As such, I think is better not to put high hope in this area. Treat the compo. as bonus if it turn up satisfactory.

My Gal did Her latest compo (CL) in school, in the time frame set by the T, and Just Misses the Ending by 4 character when the T strictly asked everybody to \"Pens Down, No Writing!\"
And was Told she Got 4 marks Minus off Coz Ending Not Completed ....

She Wrote 3 1/2 pages - Don't have time to read thru what she wrote,
So I Just Told Her to Cut Her Story Short Next Time, So Can Complete it on time (4 Marks is A Lot -le!) ....

Heard they Need at Least 350 characters only for Compo ....
        Am I Right?

          Hi all,

Regarding the 成语 listed by MOE, does your kids' school teacher teaches or expects to self-study ?
Is there a MOE List? Where can we find them?
My Gal's School Never had such list, just what they read from the Text book ....

Heard that last time there were 60 idioms but not longer tested in PSLE since they had modified the test format in 2006.

            http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2005/pr20050422.htm

Hopefully I am correct or someone else can confirm?

                  Hello all,

Is your child 's teachers understress already?

Yesterday, ds came back and told me one of the soft spoken teacher has started screaming at them in class .I asked why, he mentioned some din hand up the work. So, in the end, for the smallest thing, the teacher also got very agitated.I think the stress is getting into the teacher.

I wonder does your kid face such?

                  Regards

                    Hi Leanne

Wow. Now is only February and bigger stress is yet to come. May be the hm given was over the capacity that the child can handle as they are tired after the busy schedule. So far not heard of this issue from dd, I think either they are already immune to it or their work load still have not ramp up yet. .

I guess this is the first year this teacher heading the top class, usually she is taking the second class, so maybe there is expectation. And her second best class last year did worst than third class. So, maybe that is where the pressure comes from.

Actually, it takes two hands to clap.If the students do well is a bonus, if its not, may have to examine why.Not every child can take shouting and screaming.I am pretty surprised a loving caring teacher has turned to a tiger over night.

I do agree that as an adult they should try to control their emotional rather than pass on to the poor child who may not able to take it and resulted the negative effect. BTW, how many subjects she is teaching?
