      use model method, 283+13=296
      sam=6 units, tara= 1 unit, xing yi = 1unit (cos add 13 to 283)
      total= 8 units
      296/8 = 37 =1unit

              13 X 7 = 91
              283 – 91 = 192
              192/8 = 24 (1 unit)
              24 + 13 = 37 (Tara = 1 unit + 13)

              Tara collected 37 cans.

              Hope this helps.

              Hi Parents,

              Can help me to solve this question.

              Sam, Tara and Xing Yi collected cans for recycling. Sam collected six times as many as Tara. Tara collected 13 cans more than Xing Yi. If they collected a total of 283 cans, how many cans did Tara collected ?

                  2 + 4 = 6 legs

                  1008/6 = 168

                  168 sheep and 168 chickens.

                  Hope my answer is correct.

                      Dear Applelyn1,

                      Age difference remains the same.

                      In this case, 39 - 9 = 30

                      When the father is twice as old, the father is 2 units and the son is 1 unit.

                      The difference -> 2u - 1u = 1u

                      As difference in age always remains the same,
                      1u -> 30

                      Therefore, the son is 30 yrs old now.

                      To find the current age of the father, find 2u.

                      That is, 2u x 30 -> 60

                      The father is 60 years old.

                      Hope this helps.

                      Mrs Alan

                        Hi

                        Age difference or age gap will always remain the same - this is the most important fact for questions on age.

                        age gap --> 39 - 9 = 30 = my present age (since father is twice as old, present age = age gap....draw a model --> easier to see with a model)

                        cheers.
