      Hi Parents, pls help:

      The total mass of 3 cans of orange juice and 1 bag of potato chips is 1kg 200g.

      If each can of orange juice is 120g lighter than each packet of potato chips, what is the mass of 1 packet of potato chips?

      thank you!
      Is 1 bag of potato chips the same as 1 packet of potato chips?

      If not, is there information on 1 bag of PC has how many packets inside? Otherwise it cannot be solved.

          If u is the unit for 1 packet/bag of potato chips,
          then each can of OJ is (u-120), so 3 cans -> 3(u-120)

          3(u-120) + u -> 1200
          3u - 360 + u -> 1200
          4u -> 1560
          u-> 390

          So the bag or packet of potato chips is 390g.

            1 bag of potato => 1 u
            1 can of orange juice => (1u - 120)g
            3 can of orange juice => (3u-360)g
            3 can of orange juice + 1 bag of potato = 1200g
            3u -360 +1u = 1200
            4u -360 = 1200
            4u = 1560
            1u=390
            So 1 bag of potato is 390g

                  potato chips -----> u + 120
                  orange juice -----> 3u

                  u+120 + 3u = 1200

                  4u = 1080

                  u = 270
                  Mass of orange juice 270g

                  mass of 1 bag of potato chips = 270+120 =390 g

                  check:
                  3 x 270 = 810
                  270 + 120 = 390

                  810+390 = 1200

                    You draw a box for (u) and 3 boxes for (u-120) and then curly bracket all boxes to be equal to 1200.

                      i have a question that is from the previous page..... but could not work out the ans...

                      Ann spent $5850 on some bags and wallets. She bought 5 times as many bags as wallets. She paid $4400 more for bags than wallets. Each bag cost $60 more than a wallet. Find the cost of one wallet.

                      Thanks

                      Hi

                      amount spent on Bags --> $(5850+4400)÷2 = $5125
                      amount spent on Wallets --> $5850 - $5125 = $725
                      Ann bought 5 times as many bags as wallets
                      Number of bags : Number of wallets --> 5 units : 1 unit
                      So, amount for 1 unit of bags --> $5125 ÷ 5 = $1025
                      $1025 - $705 = $300 (difference in cost of 1 unit of bags vs 1 unit of wallets)
                      $300 ÷ $ 60 = 5

                      Number of wallets bought --> 1 unit = 5
                      Cost of 1 wallet = $ 725 / 5 = $145

                      cheers.
