          A packet of cookies was shared equally among 9 children. If 4 more children joined in, each child would get 8 fewer cookies. How many cookies were there in the packet?

            Hi

            Needs help to draw model and explaination

            Mr King picked 388 durains from his durian plantation.
            He picked 4 times as many durains as Mr. Kong.
            How many durians did Mr Kong pick?

            Rachel and Steven had 1008 marbles altogether. After Rachel gave 49 marbles to Steven. Rachel had 6 times as many marbles as Steven. How many marbles did Steven have at first?

            Thank you.

              Hi

              Good Morning.

              For the question on Rachel and Steven, actually MD might not be necessary.

              The number of marbles stays the same before and after.

              Steven had 144 marbles in the end.

              He received 49 marbles from Rachel.

              Therefore, he had 144 – 49 or 95 marbles at first.

              I’ve also drawn more MD than necessary to show the flow of events. Your child may merge the MD once he/she becomes more familiar.

              There are two solutions in one slide.

              If the image is not big enough, please let me know.

              Hope this helps.

              Best wishes

                PapayaDad:
                (5) = 5 x 5 = 25

                (2) = 2 x 2 = 4
                (5) x (2) = 25 x 4 = 100

                or may be

                (5) x (2) = (10) = 10 x 10 = 100

                my guess

                Your \"guess\" sounds very reasonable..and i think that shall be the answer. thank u.

                    D=6u

                    E=3u
                    F=2u
                    Total 11u=77
                    u=11

                    D-F=6u-2u=4u=44

                        Hi

                        For the question on goats and ducks, you may use Grouping concept.
