Thanks for the update BlurBee.. ..
Figures are scary.. Hope the term break can slow them down!

My gal also got it earlier tis month but has since recovered. So scary le, lots of ulcers in her mouth so she can’t eat, even refused her favorite milk! can only give ice cream.
Nowadays don bring her to outside playground anymore, but she has always like to play there last time, so now whenever we pass by her favourite playground she will look so disappointed…
Just check MOH website the figures are still high, over 1000 cases in a week! -
2 of my kids got it this week. They are not preschoolers. The eldest came down with fever after those 2 were confirmed HFMD. Fortunately, hers was just a case of viral rather than HFMD and she can finally go for her SYF practise tomorrow. :rahrah:
Keeping our fingers crossed that the 2nd child recover asap as he has syf practise :gloomy: Both of their fever has subside. However he still has red spots in his mouth though i see it lightening. The youngest is on her way to recovery. Their appetite is back and now full of energy and back to their old selves.
We've been giving them ling yang, chinese barley and red teak leave water to drink. Any other methods that we can help them to recover soonest. Really stressed now over the recovery. -

My gal is only 4 yr old when she got the HFMD, thus very irritable. the ulcers in the mouth very painful for her, cos generally she is not one who can tolerate pain, even a small little cut on her finger she also cry a lot..
So for the 2 weeks she can't eat and drink, only some ice cream. can see she lose a lot of weight, heart pain le..
For bigger kids maybe not so difficult -

Sorry syf stands for Singapore Youth Festival.
Mine are all primary kids so maybe they are stronger to withstand the virus. My youngest was diagnosed this week. Wasn't able to eat for 3 days, lost weight but her appetite seems to improving though we are still putting them on soupy stuff. They were talking about their food cravings now. -

My ds1 is in K1 this year, he had 2 hfmd. The first when he had was at 21 months old and the following one was just less than a year apart from the 1st. He passed the hfmd to me and my hubby for the 1st time. Both of them had only mild symptoms, while i had the worse experience. So parents be cautious, although hfmd is childhood dieases but adult might just get it too. I believe the 2 hfmd he caught were those common strains…i can’t imagine if he gets it for the 3rd time, definitely not the weak strain anymore.

My son contracted HFMD 2 weeks ago and now he has recovered. Do we have to bring him to the same doctor who diagnosed him? Can we bring him to cheaper alternative like polyclinic or normal clinic?
-
I think the older your kid, the stronger his or her immune system so can better fight against HFMD. Recently, my 20 plus year old daughter was contracted with HFMD but luckily hers is not full blown so she recovered within a week. I heard from my other friends that their grandchildren or young children got contracted HFMD and their conditions are much more serious. Wish all the kids with HFMD, especially young kids recover soon!

I thought if you bring your child back to the same clinic, the doc will just charge you the review rate not the full consultation rate?
