DSA 2012

ApronMama:
In 2008 batch it happened that many of our GEP boys who have CO from RI & HCI chose HCI over RI. Todate, most of our high ability boys also chose HCI over RI with T-score above 260.
True. HCI has been attracting a number of head prefects, deputy heads and council members, many of whom are either GEP or top mainstream students studying Higher Chinese. T-score all in the range of 264-270. I personally know some of these bright sparks who received COs from both RI and HCI but chose the latter happily.
well said. I asked the same questions few days before any one choose NUSH for RI no replies hmmm.leeven:

I just wonder how many students or parents will give up a CO from RI, instead take up the offer from other schools? Maybe a few percent.
I have seen, also heard many parents and students who received multiple CO mentioning \"not sure which one to choose\", \" my DH and DS and DW perfer other schools but my son want to follow his classmate\", \"my heart is with my Alma mater, but my head telling me to go with RI\", ...etc. In the end also go to \"Bishan Hill.\" :? :? :?
I am in same boat . I am :please: praying my DS takes wise decision and comes to reality that Brand name / Alma mater/long history/Friends wont help him to craft his future the way he wants. -

:rahrah: congrats to you and DS! Wow, how amazing!I received a phone call from ACSI at 9am this morning just before leaving for oral. It has been the best news ever! Thank God!
My ds is from mainstream and he got into IP. I still can't believe it! He actually didn't finish his HAST ....like many questions!
-
why would people automatically assume that an RI CO must be accepted ?
judging by all the comments, is it unbelievable that people would put RI as second or third choice ? what so surprising about it ?
actually it betrays a lot of double speak -
GoodDad:
GoodDad, why are you so interested to know this??ruohoo97:
One of my friend's son was qualified to go to RI by PSLE chose to go to St Andrew instead. His parents were supportive of his decision. He was happy and doing very well.
Yes, understand that quite a number students who had T-Score above COP of RI and chosen other schools. How about DSA to RI? Those who has gone through the DSA process, anyone will give up their CO from RI??
:scratchhead:
I believe there'll some who will be willing to give up their CO from RI, due to various reasons. Then the questions will be why do they apply RI then. It could then be due to \"play safe\" or \"more choices\" thinking. -

:yikes:
Sorry to hear that Glorymum. But at least, your dd will not be affected by it, since she has forgotten abt it. Is this the only school she apply for DSA? -

:yikes:
GLORYmum, the kids will be fine. I was in your shoes last year. DS didn't make it to RI. It seems to be his dream Sch then. But today he is very happy and proud to be in DHS. Seeing him so happy now, I'm no longer sad that he didn't make it into his dream sch.
