Hi all,
It wasn't easy at first for me to accept the unsuccessful email at the start of the day.
Fortunately dd was ok and took it quite well.
After all this is not the end of the world, right?
Thanks folks for your outpouring kind and comforting words especially to you who had shared your past experience on overcoming the disappointment.
GLORYmum, a big hug from me....
I understand the disappointment, my DS got an NO from NUSH 2 weeks ago, I cried myself a river... I have so much regret :stupid: ....regretted that I did not sign him for MO courses thou he begged for it since since P4; regretted that I restrict his excessiveness of spending hours daily on Maths and Science and neglect his other language subjects, the list goes on....
It's my DS that had to console me, :snuggles: DS and me had learned a great deal in this DSA episode, and we are just glad that we had the opportunity to gain the exposure....
Now I am glad and proud to say this, though he failed his NUSH DSA, but DS fought a good fight (NUSH); with his non-exposure to Maths Olympiad and Science Olympiad, he managed to clear the first round and entered the Selection Camp. We will see how he fair in his PSLE, or Sec 2; we may still have a chance. :xedfingers:
Wish your DD ALL THE BEST! -

GoodDad, why are you so interested to know this??GoodDad:
One of my friend's son was qualified to go to RI by PSLE chose to go to St Andrew instead. His parents were supportive of his decision. He was happy and doing very well.
Yes, understand that quite a number students who had T-Score above COP of RI and chosen other schools. How about DSA to RI? Those who has gone through the DSA process, anyone will give up their CO from RI??
:scratchhead:
I believe there'll some who will be willing to give up their CO from RI, due to various reasons. Then the questions will be why do they apply RI then. It could then be due to \"play safe\" or \"more choices\" thinking.
Yes, I am just curious to know who actually will make RI as \"back up\", \"more choices\" and finally give up RI CO after going through the DSA exercise. As vk2010 mentioned \"judging by all the comments, is it unbelievable that people would put RI as second or third choice\" -
Dino:
Hi, Dino.Can I ask something????
Is it that once a school offers u and u accepted under DSA, u cannot change anymore subsequently?
What if later on (touch wood), never do so well in psle and fail to meet the CO marks?
Thanks
I am new in this DSA and PSLE thingy; but from what I know, once accepted an DSA offer, you cannot change your choice; if you have 2 CO and 1 WL, you can list your 1st/2nd/3rd choice among the three, I read in one of the KS thread that you may put the WL as 1st Choice, and follow by the 2 CO, it would not affect your chance, since they offered you and you accepted the CO.
KSP, please correct me if I am wrong. -

Way to go Mamago! Hugs :grphug: As you said there is still PSLE to hope for. There are just too many dragons and competition is keen this year. Every parent will do their best for their DC. You and DS have done your best. :hugs:GLORYmum:
RGS email is out.
A consoling one.
:gloomy:
Thank you jtoh.
Am sure My dd will take this better than me coz she practically has forgotten about the dsa to Rgs.
:yikes:
children are naturally more resilient than adult in this kind of situation, so long as the adult don't make it like too big a deal.
assure your DD just to work hard and she can still get to where she wants, just go on to prove her ability
even for outright CO cases, better to work doubly hard to prove she deserves it, so no difference actually -
mamago:
correct !

that is the purpose of DSA. the school made the CO, you accepted it. it is confirmed regardless of t-score how low below the cut off point.
usually there is only a simple requirement stating that PSLE result must meet the entry requirement of the course offered - which is express course, usually is 200, and not the cut off point of the school -
