That was my personal observation. For low secondary school, the sec1 and sec 2 are grouped as the same level, if there are enough players for sec 2, especially top ones, there will be less places for sec1.
Top 3 ?.what oppurtunities are these kids in sports via RGS or any ip school Vs SPORTS school from next year (govt will be taking students from sports school announcment)ruohoo97:
Would like to share. For DSA sports, if your DD is not one of top three finalists at national level for individual sports, chance is slim, but for team sports, higher chance.
National level top 3 finalists trying for sports school ?.

My DS applied Njc also. Interview and day activities will be on 25/08. The day I went down to the school to submit the document and checked with the admin staff, she told me around 200 were selected for the 2nd round. Any idea how many pupils will be enrolled through dsa? We didn't attend the open house, did the school mentioned during open house? What we like Njc is their small class size, boarding programme and it's just next to my dd primary school. By the way, we received the gat result from Njc last Friday. -

Principal stated that WLs have averagely a 50% chance to be upgraded to COs. But he also said that since this is a \"fiery dragon cohort\" and it is the first year that the IP comes under MOE's PSLE centralised posting, it is hard to say if COP will go up or be sure of how many WLs can be upgraded.

So for past years S1, the boys can only choose ACSI as a school but not the course. The school then decides internally what is the S1 COP for ACSI IP for these 90 boys - last year COP being 255.
But now with IP under S1 means the boys have two choices for S1- ACSI Express and/or ACSI IP. So the school has no say on COP as it depends on demand VS supply under S1.
Can someone enlighten what would be the difference(s) after ACSI IP goes under S1? And what are the possible impact on COP? :salute: Snow Crystal, you have elaborated my sentence to the 'T'. This is what was told to us by Mr Hodge during ACSI's pre-DSA talk at my DS's school.
I understand that in previous years, parents whose children fall into the 252-255 T-score range were anxious that their DS would be posted to ACSI-Express, instead of ACSI-IP, as there was only one school code in the S1 option exercise. The COP to IP was controlled internally by the school and they wouldn't know which track their DS were posted to till they go for orientation meeting after the posting results were out. However, the COP to IP was predictably set by the school at 255-257. For parents whose DS scored 255+, it was a 'high chance-sure get' kind of situation.
As from this year, we are told that we have to specify which track we are choosing, there is a separate code for Express and IP. The allocation of students to IP now comes under MOE's centralised posting. So COP-IP is now determined by less predictable market forces of demand and supply. This being a dragon year with a larger cohort and relatively stiff competition, many of us were jittery about the unknown - how the COP will turn out to be- when we first heard about it. Someone asked the principal if the school will be catering to the larger dragon cohort by increasing its S1 places, the answer is 'No' due to staff and resource constraints. The enrollment at S1 stays at 180 places for IP. Hence, most of us expect the COP for IP to move up. We thought we detected a hint in the principal's talk.. -

I don't think we should worry too much about the Sports school announcement. DD attended the Sports school trials and was made a DSA offer. However after careful consideration (boarding for DD, distance from home and weak academic focus) DD decided to turn them down to try for RGS Sports DSA. I think the other schools will still be competitive in sports because the Sports school route is not for everyone....
That said... DD is still waiting for RGS DSA result!
