The question assumed both put the school as 1st choice but the sentence highlighted in red said "It does not matter which choice order the candidate puts the school in the School Preference Form.". Therefore, I interpret it as the choice order will not decrease or increase the chance of converting WL to CO. It is the ranking in the waiting list that determines it.
Then, at which point does the "choices" come in? The candidate met the ranking of all his 3 choices, he will be given his 1st choice? Thus the need of putting down the choices in order?

          GoodDad:

Hi leeven, I remember you mentioned that your DS scored 79.x for SA1. So it was the same as last year, below 80%, most likely will received WL. Let's see what is the COP for GEP DSA for RI. If I am right, last year was 77.6%. Anyone scored 77.5% and below were rejected.

          Hi, GoodDad. :?:
Thank you for sharing your info with anxious mainstreamers' parents.

Are you referring to the requirement of an SA1 result of 77.6% for getting into the 2nd round? Or getting the CO/WL? (Academic domain applicants sit 2 rounds of tests)

My DS is a mainstreamer, scored 96.5% for SA1, so he has a chance? πŸ™

          THANK YOU....

yes mine 79.x % and same expected WL.

Mamago, GoodDad is referring to DSA criteria for GEP.
For GEP boys according to past DSA data those with P6 SA1>80% likely to get CO, <80% WL. After PSLE, some boys may exercise option for NUSH and HCI and give up RI CO. So he's saying based on last year stats, for those GEPpers with WL scoring 77.6% and above managed to convert the WL to a confirmed seat. However 77.6% is not a fixed number, this year may be higher or lower depending on how many boys give up RI COs.

Mainstreamer academic is totally different game. RI has approx 150-170 seats for GEPpers but only say up to 20 for academic domain mainstream. Rest are for sports boys. Total 225 for DSA. The competition is therefore more keen and not based on SA1 results...must clear GAT, domain tests and interviews then they review the files and see if your son is those top few according to their criteria.
If your son is from a school of average to above average standard, I must say he did fantastically in SA1 ... πŸ˜„

Sorry, some correction here. For last year result, based on what I know and what I have gathered from different students and parents. GEP SA1 result 77.6% - 80% were awared WL for RI DSA. Only those with 78.9% above were converted to CO. PSLE T-Score does not matter. My DS classmate SA1 scored 79.8% and PSLE T-score 257 was converted from WL to CO. Last year RI COP for PSLE was 261.
thnx Good Dad for the details . Still not sure if my DS can hope RI cause he is \"I do what I like\" type and gets stressed if he doesnt get what he likes but have some days more to decide.

I see the purpose of the choice order as indicating the preference of the school.

              Example:
Candidate A has 3 WLs from School A, B and C. His put School A as first choice because he likes School A the most followed by School B and C.

If his WL ranking in School A is high and gets converted into CO then happy ending.

However, if his WL ranking in School A and B is very low but is high in School C, he will not be penalised and lower his chance of getting into School C. If his WL for School A and School B did not get converted into CO, the chance of his WL being converted into CO is based on his WL ranking in School C and has nothing to do with the choice order.

I might be wrong and missed out something so please do share your view.

              Thanks.

Thanks, Flowermonster. You are right... I myself know someone that's not even a PR of Spore that's currently schooling there....

Just curious, If DS accept a CO, is it mean that he can't apply for S1 posting to NUSH?

The confusion here is, during the open house, NUSH said that for doing S1 posting, if we want to admit to it's school, we must do it on their school website after PSLE result announced..... then, it'd mean that NUSH is conducting it's own S1 posting, not with the MOE centralized S1 posting, right?.... If that's the case, an applicant with or with CO should be able to apply. (???)

                Please share with me...

I believed if you accepted your CO, you will not be able to join the S1 posting & NUSH own S1 posting.

                :thankyou: Flowermonaster. Appreciate :udawoman:
Also from yesterday session in ACS I , Principal told that students who accepted a school via DSA will never have chance to appeal cause first question asked will did you join via DSA. DSA cannot appeal & Non DSA can appeal

Would like to share. For DSA sports, if your DD is not one of top three finalists at national level for individual sports, chance is slim, but for team sports, higher chance.
