Phankao - I support VS way of doing. It gives a chance to those on WL - reduces the eagerness of waiting and not knowing what's next. If one is keen with the school, decide and take it. If not, decline and give the chance to others. 2 weeks of deciding period is more than enough. VS has set a wonderful process for this year.

So far, it appears that VS is the only school who is doing this. I wonder how VS will align this with the MOE process of choosing the DSA confirm offer which will take place in Oct. I hope they have a process in place dealing with those who sign on the VS acceptance letter and later change their mind in Oct. :spank: :spank:

SJI DSA (IP) results are out!

DS just received a CO - email sent sometime around noon.

Wow congrats. Now you have a bagful of COs to choose from. So envious.

Thanks, GLORYmum. DS choice is ACSI while DH and me prefer SJI. So we have to discuss ..

My son is chosen for Victoria school through Sports DSA. I feel he can score 260+ in PSLE this year. This score is above the RI and other schools admission cut off.

He is interested in RI. Should we accept Victoria offer or wait for PSLE and apply again in RI.
My query is Once we wait for PSL than only schools will give admission based on academic results. What is the difference in sports DSA and Academic admission in secondary education.
Kindly suggest. Thank you for your suggestions
If your son wants to go RI, then give up the DSA CO from VS. Work hard for PSLE and get in.

I don't understand your question re the difference between sports DSA and academic admission? By academic admission do you mean admission via DSA academics or admission via S1 central posting? If your son goes to VS via sports DSA, he is expected to commit to that sport for all the years that he is in VS. That is he has to put in the requisite hours of training and represent the school in all related competitions and perform to the best of his ability. If he goes in via S1 central posting, there are no exceptional expectations of his performance in that sport.

I don't think VS is the first school to do this. There were a couple of other schools who asked for early confirmation as well in the past. Parents were invited to tea sessions or meetings and were asked to return the form to indicate if they would be confirming their place in the school. I think in one instance the school said if the kids didn't confirm taking the CO, the CO letter would not be given to the kid. In other words, we only give you a CO letter if you confirm you are coming to our school. If you can't confirm, we don't give you a CO. A lot of parents left angrily after that meeting.

hmm... interesting. No time is given for the parent/DC to consider. I supposed these parents are put on the spot and therefore not happy about it.
