My son had difficulties in grasping the concepts behind the math and science last year...results plunged after CA1. He didnt have any help and i was too busy. Lucky managed to enrol him in a good centre and built up his confidence and results. This yr he's doing well for his double maths.

Hi Can PM me the contact. Thanks.
Elder DS in sec 2 this year scored very well for his SA1 this time round as compared to previous year. A good tuition teacher really makes a lot of difference.

Truly agree! A good tuition teacher will make the lesson interesting and build the love of the subject in the student.

My elder DS used to hate sci because he said the school teacher is teaching things so fast that he totally dont understand whats going on in class, this lasted for 3-6 months and his results are terrible. 28/100. I will always remember the day he came back with tears in his eyes and tell me that he failed. I was so sad and I know he used to do very well in his pri school so there shoudnt be any reason why he is not doing well, I tried a few tutors during that 3-6 months and they dont work, he still fail.

In the end, my niece intro me to her tutor and let him try out for 3 months which is towards his CT, and was surprised he got a pass and by now he is doing very well because he knows whats going on in the books and he loves science now. He was telling me that he is going to take all 3 pure sci if he can when he goes sec 3.

So ever since that, I always believe a good teacher can influence a student very much in terms of their learning capabilities and bringing the best out of the kid. I am really glad I found the right tutor for him.

On another side note, not all tutors are suitable for all kids. but apparently, my two DS like their current tutor very much. which is good!
Hi My DS is not doing well on his Science. Can PM me the tutor contact. Thanks

my son's tutor helped him to get from E to A in a very short period of time. I would recommend her. However, she will only teach if the parents works together with her. She's very strict but my son loves and respects her a lot. She's a honors NTU bio science grad and current teaching in a top school and will teach Secondary Maths and chemistry. If you r staying in Punggol, SengKang or not too far off, pm me and i will pass on her contact.
Hello! New mummy here.

I have 1 DD and 1 DS in secondary school. Both were failing for their Math and Science last year. Through Friendsโ€™ recommendation, I put them at a centre in Tampines and for their last exams, my DD managed to score very well that she is taking pur chemistry and pure bio and E/A math in sec 3, I was so happy.

For DS, he improved alot too from 34/100 to 65/100. I am very happy for him too. If parents are interested, I can share her contact number with you. Just PM me. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

      Hi salty salt,

Owner of the centre and teach by herself, my nieces and nephews also go over to her centre. The best thing is they have hands on experiment which both my DS love...

      Lilo:
My DD told me that she want to go Cedar girls but she had a place in SCGS which she do not wish to drop it too. She said that she will accept SCGS but if PSLE result turn out to be good, she will want to move to Cedar. She said she attend one week SCGS and ask for transfer to Cedar. Can she do in this way? Will SCGS allow?

But Cedar and SCGS, which one is better?
Hi Shalom,
Please see FAQ 41 and 42 regarding DD going to SCGS for 1 week and then transfer to Cedar.
      http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/dsa-sec/faqs/#withdraw-application

      Cedar vs SCGS:
(without considering distance, school fees, uniform, infrastructure, location i.e. town or suburb)
My view is, it depends on DD's personality and what domain she DSA. If DSA via dance, SCGS is strong in dance. If DSA via sport, Cedar is strong in Track & Field. If DSA via academic, Cedar is proud to announce their success stories and 90 or 99% of O-levels enter JC (this was said during open house). Also, if DD is going to do MEP, I was told that Cedar has collaboration with TKGS for MEP. My feel is Cedar focus more on Sc & Technology (I may be wrong) since they are somehow affiliated with SUTD. Cedar also gives me the feel that it is like MGS of the east and more well known for their academic achievement as compared to SCGS (I may be wrong). These are just my views...so KSP pls don't :spank: me. Each of them has its own branding and it depends on what DD wants and what type of enviroment you want DD to grow up in.
Hi Lilo, thanks for your clear explanation. My DD is under academic.
Now, headache, don't know whether want to accept SCGS or not. Look like Cedar is better.
