phtthp:
Thanks phtthp for these points. :goodpost: Will mention them to DD.mamakata:
My DD has the happy dilemna of receiving 2 offers - MGS-IP and SCGS-IP. I've looked through previous discussions and there's lots of discussions about RGS/NYGH and RI/HCI, but have not found any discussion on MGS vs SCGS.
SCGS IP just starting out, not yet proven to parents to what extent how good or how strong she is. At this point in time, nobody knows.
She is a new born \"baby\", compared to rest of her peers from other established IP programme that's been running & fine-tuned, re-adjusted for constant improvement for some / many years already. (eg: MGS, NJC, etc).
which environment do you prefer to see your daughter raised up in - for the next 6 years, from now ?
to be exposed and raised up in a nurturing environment, strong mission based Methodist Christian school -
that is willing to guide and impart teaching of good, sound character moral values - teaching these young ladies how to be a God fearing woman, OR
to be raised up in a secular world ?
will be good if we may hear views from SCGS school representatives in this forum, who can share with parents how her new IP curriculum structure is like - esp. compared against heavy weight, established MGS IP. -

[/quote]No, you're wrong.
There is IP in ACS Independent. MGS' starts its IP track next year which leads to an IB Diploma in ACS Independent.
Anyone can join any IP school in Year 5 - RI, HCI, ACSI etc.
We're talking about IP as in a 6 year thru train programme. That's why we're talking about the SCGS IP leading to a new JC, MGS IP leading to ACS Independent etc.Melodies:
Err..
Methodist vs SCGS
IP in ACS international (NOT ACSI) vs IP in New JC
As for the joining established IB Programme at ACSI, everyone from all schools can join la in year 5 if good and accepted...not just limited to MGS.. SCGS also can join in yr 5. No?
Other considerations:
Methodist vs Secular school
Established IB Programme at ACSI vs New JC
Hi jtoh, with regards to the 6 year through train concept, do you know if it also means absolutely no change after 4 years, eg. To \"upgrade\" to a better JC or if the student turns out to be more suitable for IB vs A level? -
Thanks for clarification!
In other word, the current sec 1 student can join IP when Sec3 in 2014.
Beginning next year, all MGS students who scored > 250 will be joining Sec 1 IP.
MGS has not established IP yet and will be starting IP next year. Their sec 3 students who will join IP in 2014 will be the first batch to complete the IP program in 2017 while SCGS/SNG/CHS will be starting IP next year in their own school too and will be consolidated in the new holding school in Bishan in 2017 in year 5.MandyMummy:

You can always apply to go to another school in Year 5, even if you're already in an IP programme.Hi jtoh, with regards to the 6 year through train concept, do you know if it also means absolutely no change after 4 years, eg. ACSI generally stands for ACS Independent. Think you not only typed wrongly, you also get the acronym wrongly which resulted in confusion.

Yes usually when people mention ACSI it's referring to ACS Independent, the one with dual track IP/IB and Express courses located at Dover area
