Hallelujah:
I just received Rejection letter from RV by post today. Those had not received, might be CO...

No. I don't think so. I still haven't received any news since now. But my DS hasn't been invited to interview and no noticification yet so far although I know he was being kicked out from successful application.
Anyway, still got psle going on. Work hard!
I was informed that CO was only sent out yesterday. Looking forward to Monday's mail.
Were you informed by RV of that? Does it mean that letters received on Monday will all be COs? 😄 RV's DSA process is tedious and is the last school to give out results. I am waiting too. 😓
Yes, I was told: CO will be sent out today(Friday).

My DD has the happy dilemna of receiving 2 offers - MGS-IP and SCGS-IP. I’ve looked through previous discussions and there’s lots of discussions about RGS/NYGH and RI/HCI but have not found any discussion on MGS vs SCGS. Can KSPs with experience of the schools share your views? Since both are good girls school, I’ve said I’d let her choose after psle, but would like to advise her of all the relevant considerations (otherwise she may just follow her friends’ views). Main difference seems to be IB vs A Level. Thanks!

Established IB Programme at ACSI vs New JC

SCGS IP just starting out, not yet proven to parents to what extent how good or how strong she is. At this point in time, nobody knows.

She is a new born \"baby\", compared to rest of her peers from other established IP programme that's been running & fine-tuned, re-adjusted for constant improvement for some / many years already. (eg: MGS, NJC, etc).

which environment do you prefer to see your daughter raised up in - for the next 6 years, from now ?

to be exposed and raised up in a nurturing environment, strong mission based Methodist Christian school -
that is willing to guide and impart teaching of good, sound character moral values - teaching these young ladies how to be a God fearing woman, OR

to be raised up in a secular world ?

will be good if we may hear views from SCGS school representatives in this forum, who can share with parents how her new IP curriculum structure is like - esp. compared against heavy weight, established MGS IP.

phankao:

I guess schools like SNGS, CHS & SCGS are still bound by the rule of 10% of their maximum vacancy level then. Which in this case is 30. So this \"rule\" has not been allowed to be relaxed by MOE even with introduction of IP. These 3 schools have to abide by this ruling bc they are not independent schools, unlike RI, etc. Oh well. No wonder CHS for eg. Only opened DSA for sports & IP and closed up all the previous DSA domains (via other CCA). Bc they cannot offer that many places. All along 30 places for DSA, now STILL 30 places.
2013 being her maiden IP take off flight ensuring no glitch, SNGS does things .... cautiously.
She only take in a small handful of pupils - to test out the water level.

Being cautious, SNGS prefer to adopt \"wait and see\" situation in filling up rest of the remaining seats, based on PSLE performance (a common ground and basis of comparison, which may be good).

Err..

Methodist vs SCGS
IP in ACS international (NOT ACSI) vs IP in New JC

As for the joining established IB Programme at ACSI, everyone from all schools can join la in year 5 if good and accepted...not just limited to MGS.. SCGS also can join in yr 5. No?

No, you're wrong.

There is IP in ACS Independent. MGS' starts its IP track next year which leads to an IB Diploma in ACS Independent.

Anyone can join any IP school in Year 5 - RI, HCI, ACSI etc.

We're talking about IP as in a 6 year thru train programme. That's why we're talking about the SCGS IP leading to a new JC, MGS IP leading to ACS Independent etc.

MGS takes in first batch of Sec 1 IP in 2013; sec 3 in 2014.
