Quite few years ago, the former prime minister of Thailand, Thanksin wanted to buy ManU. Maybe, you can tell your DS, become prime minister can buy the entire ManU, not just a few shares.WeiHan:
Most businessmen don't have any history of doing extremely well in studies...if one does too well in studies, he/she will get a comfortable salary which will become an obstacle to venture out.
True, my boss formal education is primary school. Now, he is business owner and doing well.
My ds want to play ( his soccer is not that good) for England soccer club and also want to own it . Now he is thinking of how to buy Man U stock from market and asking me to help him buy with his money (fr his porket money, get from grand parent, relative, prize award, etc..) ... I dont know how as never buy before :siao:
I ask broker and they said 12 yr old can't open acc  -
At age 4, my ds told us he just wanted to be a child when he grows up. Recently, he told us he wanted to be a band conductor.
OK my bad… was telling P5 that she needs to study hard… next year PSLE… must do her best for SA2. Unless of course she choose to be a cashier or toilet cleaner??? Just like how our parents used to tell us… if you don’t study hard, you will be a human soil collector… but that profession obsolete already… P5 dd told me what’s wrong, she wants to have the cleanest toilet in Singapore. So i told her that why not I ask the maid to stop cleaning the toilet and she can start to perfect her skills now. If she is interviewed one day for the cleanest toilet, she can say her passion starts from 11 yrs old and since then she has been perfecting her skills… I think we need to move the discussion on kids’ ambition to another thread… -

I like your dd's attitude. Any job can be good, especially if you work to be the best in it.At age 4, my ds told us he just wanted to be a child when he grows up. Recently, he told us he wanted to be a band conductor.

Good Dad, my DS wants to be Business Man, but he doesn't have CO from ACSI. HCI can??
Hi yukilei
How about Business Man?GoodDad:

Artist? The Art programme there is good. You should take a look at the exhibition by the arts students. Very impressive.
There was a saying \"If you want to rule Singapore go to RI, if you want to own Singapore go to ACS\"
No CO from ACSI is ok. HCI does has some program for entrepreneurship. However, training is only one small part of it, it is the contacts and networking that make the different.

She seems to have a mind of their own. While peers are vying for top sec schools, she said she don't want to be in overly competitive environment. She would sometimes tell us what's wrong with being normal. She is happy being a normal person (as in not a celebrity, or someone famous). Well... being normal can also be a happiness. At least you can eat in hawker center anytime you want/ wish. You are a free person.
But having worked with a group of talents who graduated from top unis in the world and most are phd holders, I learnt that the key to success is all about passion.
Those with passion for what they are doing will eventually do well, make a difference and they will shine. Even in the same job, a person who is earning a living will behave differently from the one who has a passion.
So long as my kids' passion is not idling at home and do nothing, I think I am fine. -

Those in blue, I strongly agree.jtoh:

Mychildren:
Oh my dear Candy, I've finally found you!!! :love:jedamum,
Good morning!
yukilei,
U've got Terry!
Back to topic,
For me, i'll let the children decide what they want to pursue. But of course, we need to let them know what are the options, the career path available.
Design doesn't means u end up be an architect, u can be a product or display designer, graphics designer etc, right? I'm not in this field so cannot say much. -

http://www.hci.edu.sg/advantage/student-development/leadership-education#entrepreneurship
Thanks GoodDad. DS is aware of this prog & is interested in this. I agree with you that networking makes the different. One of my relatives told him if he's in RI, he'll know lots of lawyers & maybe politician which maybe useful to him when he become businessman one day.
He kind of agree with them as well. So he is still thinking.
