Hi mamona, I strongly encourage you to check with the school IMMEDIATELY. This is a short week and deadline is this Saturday 12 noon. I do think your DD should still receive the Preference Form despite having only one CO. Don't make any assumption that it will be auto allocated to you. By the way, I've confirmed that a boy in DS's class who has one CO also received his Form yesterday.

Thanks just checked with the school & they confirmed that they will give form to my dd.

DD received 2 CO... RGS first choice and MGS second. However I think the second choice is moot unless RGS becomes defunct? Between now and Jan?

          😆 :rotflmao:

            Hi parents,

I'm Matt, an education reporter with The Straits Times. I'm doing a piece on DSA and I haven't been able to get official figures for the proportion of academic vs non-academic entrants via DSA to integrated programme schools.
I was wondering if anyone here might be familiar with unofficial figures or estimates. Please PM me or email me at [email protected] - anonymity assured.
I believe it's different for different schools. DD attended the MGS dsa welcome day... They mentioned that they have 60 slots for their IB/IP classes. 50% of the places were given out at DSA. For RGS, approx 220 IP places of which 50% is reserved for DSA. Of the 50% reserved for DSA, approx 40 to 50 places were for non academic.

            All unofficial of course...

The info you have on RGS is incorrect. The entire RGS cohort is IP. There are about 400+ students per year.

SOTA is IB, if your DD is talented in one of its programmers, certainly go for SOTA.

Any parents have daughters in SOTA or SCGS under DANCE , can give me a clearer n better understanding about the 2 SCHOOLS.

Does SOTA take care of the students studies other than dance everyday?
Does SCGS take care of the students studies or only use their talent n you have to study very hard to catch up with your smarty peers ?

For SOTA, you might want to ask the parents at the SOTA thread here: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3922 There are a couple of parents of dancers there and they'll be able to give you a first hand account. My understanding from my friends' whose daughters are in SOTA dance is that it's a very demanding discipline with long hours. The girls are frequently in school til late in the evening and even at night.

Is your dd accepted into SCGS' O level or IP programme? SCGS will focus on academics first and foremost, but the girls who DSA in via dance will have to spend many hours at their CCA. Practice is VERY frequent, especially in the run-up to SYF and concerts. Yes, your dd is expected to study hard. Although in the O level route, there are students whose results range from 220 upwards, so your child should be able to fit comfortably academically.
