You only need 80 marks and above for P5 and P6 SA1 to get a shot at 2nd round. The barrier is not that high lah....
It is for some kids!!!! -

Well-said, ForeverFriends.. :hi5:My son's keyboard teacher shared with me that there are 2 types of children - 1 type of children will give up totall when faced with failure; while the other type will work even harder to achieve good results in the next try. The 12 yr old girl who was rejected by SOTA belongs to the first type. It takes maturity to change such thinking.
Peony Big Congrats. Guess your girl has good academic results.
Congrats Peony.. :celebrate: -

Dreamgear, what makes you think that it is very easy to get 80 marks & above for P5 & P6 exams? Do you have a P5 or P6 kid? :skeptical:Dreamgear:

Even if your kids can do so, it does not mean that other kids can achieve it so easily.. -

For mainstreamers, 80 marks range is average score. Of course you have to look at the learning capabilities of the students. For below average students, getting 80 marks is a feat and if they do, they are truly commendable. To me, their 80 marks is like a 100% score because they are actually outperforming themselves. -
Hi. Do you know anybody got offer to RI via piano? What is the audition like?
-

LOL - so far I only see average scores in the stats as around 70 or so, depending on subjects. 80 is quite high.

Have prize from competitions - sure can get offered. -

If a paper is manageable, around 80 marks is considered average. If you are talking about HCL, attaining 80 and above is very good score.

Pls see my statement in the context of this thread, which is DSA. The point i want to make is there are many posts here which seems to make it as if dsa is an impossibly high wall to climb. Fact is that its not. 80 marks will get you past the 1st barrier for academic dsa. -

I do know with my 3 older kids that it is not easy getting 80percent overall average. Even when one of my kids get 90+marks in 2 subjects, his performance in the others, esp Chinese is such that in the end, he only gets 70+percent overall. Thankfully, he does well in those DSA tests. If he had to depend on his PSLE score alone - with that disgusting chinese ability, he'd barely make it in.
