Am I right to say that no point for mainstream students to try academic DSA, even their SA1 result is 90% & above? They will not be given a chance to sit for the test nor interview? Academic DSA is for GEP students only. Mainstream students could only apply for Sport DSA.

          MotherHen:
If you have read last 2 years posts you will understand that RI only issue CO(confirm offer) for those GEP boys with P6 SA1 result above 80%. (last year there were students who scored 80.x only offer a WL)

In summary, if a GEP boy P6 SA1 result between 77.5% - 80%, most likely he will be offer a WL(Waiting List). Below 78% most likely will be rejected.
How about the GEP girls? Any \"cut-off\" for successful DSA to RGS/NYGH? Seems that many GEP girls have done quite well, so will the benchmark be pushed up to 80+%?
What about HCI? Do they have such cut-off in the past as 80% also? Should think so ya...

There is no academic DSA at RI, mainstreamer has to indicate a domain of their talent, be it maths, science, sport or language .

                GoodDad:
I have been following this thread since 2010. I think this thread should change to

                \"DSA to RI and RGS - 1st Choice\"
                \"DSA to HCI and NYGH - 2nd Choice\"
\"DSA to other school - Look somewhere else\"

I think there are more sec schools to discuss about DSA. Why parents only want their children to go to the above mentioned schools?

Just to share, I knew few of my DS ex-classmates who has DSAed into HCI and RI and they are the bottom of the class now and feel very depress due to they were the best in their pri schools. One of them has failed his mid-year English exam and it was shocked to the parent and the student. They wouldn't transfer out due to DSA.

Please consider carefully. This may not actually what your children want.
Just to share, my DS & his classmates have been talking about this DSA. Many of them will automatically choose RI, HCI & NUSH. Not sure if it's being influence by parents. Have not heard any of his classmates looking into other schools. So sometime, it's not the parents who want them to go to these schools. Some parents are checking info on behalf, so that we can have better ideas & can share such info to the kids.

Personally, if I can choose, RI is not my choice of school. There're too many \"cream of the top\" over there. There are so many GEP students, think about 180 of them. It's so competitive. I've heard one RI student telling me that his HCI friends are more \"lax\". When they went out on weekend, the RI student (maybe this is an unique student) will return home early to do his schoolwork or revision. But his HCI friends continue to stay out. But I thought this is suppose to be the way. Not studying throughout. The kids should enjoy schools & not bury themselves on books.

But again, for the kids, peers play an impt role. They tend to want to go to the same school. Guess as parent, we can only give them our opinion, ultimate decisions will be on the kids.
Manage to check some info from HCI Open House.

For the marks submission, they're looking at the overall column in the report book. When your child is shortlisted, prepare a copy of the result + others certificates. Don't have to be \"certified true copy\".

How about RI? I didn't get to see the DSA booth as I was there late, rushing for classroom experience & the talk. Can someone share on this.

                  Thks

I attended a talk of DSA at RI and find out the DSA procedure as below. Once the online application is submitted, print out a paper copy of the cover page which contains all the information submitted online, and then send the cover page together with all the supporting documents to the general office for Year 1-4. No certified certificates, no photograph and no personal statement are required.

                  :thankyou: RBsmum!
The DSA videos shown on the Open House at RI can be found in the following links:

I rem a boy who tried to dsa to ri via guitar but was rejected and instead he was accepted by a renowned music sch.
