What school is your DS from ?

      ACS(I)

as a guide, the yr 1/2 are using O level physics / chem / bio / geog text. as for math, the texts are still brand new and they rely on teachers' notes

just in case any gap in expectation

as for ELA and HCL, don't think the test will be any easier than the Sec 1 DSA selection test

you can try to find out any difference on what has been covered in ACS(I)

thanks .... the entrance test is for only eng, mat, sci & gat no HCL.

Is the entrance in MCQ pattern or open ended....

How many seats for locals students? Is it possible to enter or wasting time...?
In PSLE(2010) , 1 mark difference he lost his chance to enter ...

i think only the GAT is MCQ; yr 3 DSA competes with overseas scholars

:? wondering then why GAT. they can directly put them in WL insteading of giving false hopes. to go thru this GAT+Interview pain and finally get WL .DS have RI dist, SMOPS gold, NMOS gold but this everyone also so not expectionally good. so I train my brain to not to have any hope but just apply.

the GAT is at least to sieve out those who got a chance, and to test them further by selection test. else is a worse waste of time to get everyone to sit for selection test and just ended up staring at ceiling

I agree but but if they put / change their rules published \"students >80% for GEP category given first preference\" or they can say \"GEP students <80% apply via other domains\" . GEP students dont have selection test , only GAT then interview.
Did the RI online system say applicants must leave the data in 1 or 2 decimals? Else, can round off to the nearest whole number? :please:

If anyone know about the details for RI Year 3 DSA...If I can apply for my son is it possible to get a chance ... hELP please...

            Thanks in advance

If you are interested in applying to join RI in Year 3 via DSA, you must have:
            - A PSLE T-Score of 250 and above*; and/or
            - Outstanding academic performance in your Secondary 1-2 school examinations; and/or
            - Excellent achievement in academic and co-curricular activities.

            * Students who fail to meet this criterion but have performed extremely well at lower secondary school examinations may be short-listed.

In addition, students may be required to:
            - Sit for a General Ability Test and Entrance Examinations (English Language, Mathematics and Science); and
            - Be interviewed by a panel of interviewers.

not surprising for RI year 5 to go HCI – the centre for humanities studies is in HCI

                  Interested:

Can understand how Blur dad feeling and thanks Daddydaddy for writing how I feel. My DS is in the same or even worst situation then Blur Dad, ds got less then 75% and got rejected by all 3 sch, not even CO/WL. I understand this year (or maybe I'm not aware of prev yrs) <80% got CO the rest got WL or Rej. If this is the case why told us in the beginning that 70% is safe in GEP ?? If less then 75% mark geppers got rej then this year Geppers without CO is more the 20% rite ?? Not all applied for more then 3 sch and if got rejected mean they fall inside the no CO group. I really confuse now, if <70% but less the 75% got no CO then it should be more the 20% w/o any sch thru DSA rite ?? I'm really confuse now....

                  Hi Interested

I totally understand how you feel. I and DW did not set the right expectation to DS. I told my DS that \"Son, you are only a few marks different from your classmates, as long as you do well in the Hast, GAT, short written test, personal statement and interview, there is still good chance to be awarded a CO for RI/HCI/ACSI\". I was than bloody naïve.

I think it is better for those schools to set the expectation right in the beginning. Suggest to mention that to the DSA applicants that “For GEP students, if your SA1 result is <80%, need not apply.” Or “The COP for DSA is 80%”.
Please pardon me, I would like to bring up the above old post. Last year, I was in the same boat as above. Refer to the following links :
                  http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=157&p=575287&hilit=bloody#p575287

After reading the above post I feel like crying. So GEP parents and students please set your expectation right.

Some parents have perception that DSA is meant to be for GEP students. This perception is probably right for those who score > 80%. I started reading this thread since last year. I felt so stressed when I read it cos I'm not sure if my DS can get > 80% this year. 😓

The stressed level shoot up even higher in the beginning of the year when my DS P6 English & Science teachers claimed that his cohort of GEP students has the lowest standard compared to all the other years GEP students.

I was asking myself, what if my DS can't get >80%? Can he do well for PSLE when the school only start training them in July? Worse, I don't even know his standard for mainstream paper.

I shared all the info in this forum to my DS. He's aware that he has to score > 80% if he wants to try for DSA. I'm not pressurizing him. I just want to set the expectation right. If he wants to try DSA, he has to work hard.

But geppers who score is more than 80% has to go thru another hurdle which is the intervirw.

I heard that there are kids who did not do well during the interview and hence did not get co/wl from the dsa sch.

                        have

but traditionally, humanities scholars are clustered in HCI, dating from the old PROMSHO days of MOE policy
