Hi Herbie.

        My questions is CT1 breakdown. My DS only wrote a writtern paper that is 60 marks in total. so does that mean for
        ex student scored 48/60 = .8
        -> .8*100= 80%
        -> 80*.3 =
        -> CT1= 24
We were at the HCI open house too. Thought the sharing by the parent of an existing student was very good. She said she has 3 kids, 1 in ACSI, 1 in HCI (Sec 3) and 1 in RI (sec 2). She feels that the school support is strongest in HCI based on her personal experience. The consortium head worked closely with her when her son was not doing well last year and was able to counsel the boy to achieve stellar results at the end of last year. Her point is when the children move to teenage phase, they tend to listen more to their teachers, peers than parents. So it is important to have good support from the teachers and school when things don't go well. She mentioned she was not too happy when she wrote emails to RI teachers for her younger child and did not receive reply. Those were good feedback to keep in mind.

                Did she mentioned which consortium of HCI? Just had parent meet teachers session these two days. Yes, the teachers are all very patient and understanding to towards both students and parents. Very helpful and responsive to parents email. πŸ˜„ They have alot of young teachers helping around who seems like their ex-students. πŸ˜„

                Her boy is a GEP student so I think the consortium is called iSpark.
Yes, her son is in iSpark. I think the young teachers are teaching assistants who are ex-students. There was 1 such teaching assistant who spoke at the open house talk. He is waiting to go to an Ivy league (can't remember which one). Apparently he was from mainstream if I remember correctly. Both the ex-students who spoke in the talk this year did an excellent job. They spoke well and presented a fair picture of what to expect, ie lots of activities, not just academic focus etc etc. I read that last few years, the open house tend to put people off, but I think HCI did a good job this year. But that's my view only.

                  How about other schools? ACSI? RI?

                  How do you rate the 3 schools ACSI, HCI and RI for their Open House 2012?
No time to run so many places actually. Under the hot weather that day, found RI very hot but HCI is more cozy in terms of environment. By the time we arrived ACSI time was 1pm, only saw people walking out. Took our lunch at ACSI and find the canteen food is charging outside rate. So If my son go ACSI, need to bring more pocket money... πŸ˜‰
