DSA 2012
-
Hi, my son is in GEP P5, din do really well in P4 (overall is 79%) and P5 this year CA1 is 80.x%. Does he have chance to at least DSA to RI and DHS? his teacher mentioned DSA look from P4 to P6 and seemingly trying to tell me with my son result is difficult to get a seat through DSA, quite depressing, i din ask him is he referring to RI…anyway RI is not a compulsory for us lah.

the most important is P6 SA1 score, but 79 is close to 80 and RI's minimum to exempt from GAT is 80%, so no worry. RI is the only one asking for P4 score onwards. HCI and DHS ask for P5 onward nia
even if below 80%, no big deal to take the GAT
why you so easily defeated ? -

thanks for your prompt reply. The teacher somehow sounds quite negative so end up i find it quite depressing. I hope he can DSA-ed to a good school as i see their time is so sucked up by all the SS projects (and SS potentially pull his overall grade down), IVP etc and also the school will only start in term 3 or so in P6 for practising of exam papers which they will be at a losing end.fanren:

don't worry too much. SS grade will not be used for computation of the 80%. And also, if I'm not wrong, for DSA to DHS, it's 75%. -

take it that the teacher is pushing you along

but you don't need to feel depressed nor discouraged
the teacher is just being responsible to highlight at this stage what is needed for DSA.....wait till P6 to know about DSA requirement will be too late -

His results aren't bad at all. 79% is just short of 80%. He has time to pull up his P5 year end results and P6 mid-year results. As someone mentioned, your son should be able to get into DHS. No need to get depressed. -

Hi, verykiasu2010, thanks for the info :thankyou: You r good at this :boogie:verykiasu2010:
Someone mentioned that there are about 180 Geppers in RI for each cohort, (sorry forgot who said this and too lazy to go back to check :salute: ), how about the 300 odd others? Does anyone know the percentage of the various schools (HCI, NYGH, RGS, ACSI,etc.) these students go to? TIA

RI - normally 15 classes made up of 30x15=450; of which 7 classes contain about 180 GEPpers plus 30 mainstreamers; the other 8 classes are mainstreamers
HCI - iSpark has about 80 - 90 GEPpers, plus some mainstreamers
RGS - not sure how many classes
NYGH - some one recently posted they have 1 class only ?
some are found in other IP schools
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal
How about ACSI? Would u know?
The verses u quoted are indeed what i remind myself each day, hope they encourage u too, cheers :celebrate:
In ACSI, I think there are about 40-50 year 1 GEP boys -
For P5 overall result and P6 mid-year result (in %), do we fill in the acutal mark or % among the whole level? Thanks
