No need to be demoralized. If he performs well at the NUSH selection test and camp he can still go into his dream school.

Agree with jtoh. My DS senior got 73% last year. He was on WL for NUSH. He is now in NUSH. So, the selection test & camp is impt. Jia You!!!

jtoh , yukilei . thank you very much for supportive words.
The GEP CA1+SA1 for English comes along with a big portion on porfolio assessment that include presentation in class, write-up, .. so if they have done well together with the SA pen and paper, should just let them go, why still want to torture the poor kids who are just 12 yo with the interview and teething questions? Let them have more fun in their childhood k ...

:grphug: agree. last week it was miserable for me. DS got <80% and all his classmates have told him they all go to RI and he cannot (sigh i dont know why kids talk all these) get RI/NUSH/ACS(I) because he is low in acadamic. DS was so demotivated. His interest is NUSH and parents interest is ACS(I) . but kiasu so applying RI too πŸ˜„

How do his classmates know they can all go to RI? It doesn't mean that > 80% will definitely get in. I fully understand how you feel. I was worried that my DS couldnt get at least 80%, esp when he din really do well for his English paper SA1. But he did well for CA. So, in the end, he manage to get > 80%. Although being the case, he's aware that there's no guarantee for RI.
Please dont feel miserable. Your DS can feel it. Just tried for DSA. If couldn't make it, he can still use his PSLE to get in to RI. Tell him that mainstream students only have 1 chance, but GE students have 2 chances.
may be they are all reading kaisu parents website :rotflmao:. I think that :spank: is needed for my DS now he full swing in studying for his PSLE. πŸ˜‚ .

Last year P6 GEP parents . can you share how you submitted the application and supporting documents for RI. wht all you had in other than the certifcate copies and report card...

Am I missing something. I have read so many posts in this forum talking about portoflio->filing-> even remember one parent concern of DHS removing the papers from the file that was taken and stapled and put in a box .
Other then photocopies of certificate and p4-6 result slips, you can also give them a copy of the gep progress reports which were given end term 1 and 3 if I did not remember wrongly.

After spending 3 years together in small classes of 20+, the GE kids are usually very close to each other.. :grphug:

Last year, DS & classmates, teachers & even parents, gave each other support during the entire DSA process. One boy (DS' classmate) got 79.8% and the whole class went to beg the teachers to give 0.2% more to that boy so that he could skip GAT, but the teachers could not do so. In the end, that boy sat for GAT, went for interview, and got a WL from RI. That boy did not accept CO from another school, as his dream school was RI. He got 263 for PSLE, and his WL was converted to CO on PSLE result release day. The whole class (including teachers and other parents) cheered like crazy. I was so happy for that boy and his parents, as I knew how hard that boy had worked to achieve his dreams.. :rahrah:

Btw, the 'Interview' is just a casual chit-chatting session with the teachers and Principal.. The school just wants to take a look at the boys to make sure they are truly sincere to join RI.. No need to get too stressed over it.. πŸ†’

I assume they prepared a list who go which school based on the marks and cert (school should recruit them for DSA Admin help πŸ˜† ) . They always have the habit of doing this list and personally I have seen that many times.

Talking of Interview, I really really want it to be very formal cause my son is very very vocal. Sample my DS talked to a football journalist (german) in a recent personal tea session and got his email and facebook ac details for further chat in one of the functions we went as likes football. He to got few others info.

that was very touching for the friends to be so supportive!

also, as I posted before, the interview was just to see the real boy and to check whether he is mute or not ...

I can understand how you feel as there are a lot of \"if\" question in your mind right now. I am facing the same issue like you as my DD result is also <80%. However, DD is very positive about it although she do blame herself for not performing well in the CA. Her overall results are being pulled down by her science (50%) but she stays positive. Her overall performance in SA is above 82%.

She knows that I am stress but this was what she says to me:
\"Mummy, do not worry that i do not meet the requirement of 80% (to skip GAT test), that does not mean that i will not be able to get a CO from RGS. The most important thing is my performance during the interview. Even if i score >80%, they might not give me a CO, it depends on my performance during the interview as well. Furthermore, we do not know what they are looking at, it might not be the result alone.\"

I feel happy and touch and I believe that my DD is able to do it. Let us pray hard that our DC are able to get into their dream school.

                      Cheers.
