Any mummies have feedback about PCF SPARKLETOTS (JALAN KAYU)? I am new resident at Serangoon North and this is the nearest childcare to my place. But I am not sure about their services. Please advice.

            Mommy_Viv:
My son is 20 month, just enrolled into Sparkletots at Bedok. I went with him to the childcare on his first day. I was very upset with what i saw. Perhaps its due to my first explosure in cc, i wasn't prepared by the expectation of the teachers towards toddlers.

I was there at 7am, teachers only came in ard 8.30am. I was told I'm too early. He was placed at a waiting corner with mixed group of kids. Without supervision by any teacher. The only one available was vusy rushing in and out of the main door whenever the doorbell rang.
Sitting there for 1 hr, i noticed the taping on the floor have peeled and partial came off. I have to inform the teacher of the hazzard with so many kids rushing about and wooden tables nearby. The risk of tripping over is oblivious to the caregiver?
Breakfast at 8.30am comprises of half cup milk with few pieces of honeystars. Kids who wanted more must request for it. Toddlers like mine who wasnt trained to self feed, will need to play around with their food, especially with the long soop the school is using. I was told we should have taught him to self feed by now. My mistake. Haiz.
Music lesson comprises of all students gathering at music room, with teachers runshing in and out to coax new arrivals who are crying with fear. As there's only 1 toddler teacher around, she hold onto 2 kids, and the rest are looked after by the older kids. Kudos to those kids who really act like mother hen. They were fantastics!
Toddlers are usher to their own toddler room with shut door. Good isolation for such active pack. They were asked to drink water. Pity to those who dont listen to instructions, as you will see teacher drinking from her own bottle, but not ensuring all get to drink a sip of water.
Assistant teacher is in by then. You can see her demanding the kids to come back and sit down. When they wander off from the group, she snatched the books or toys from their hands, bang it down hard and pull them back to the group. I can hear her talking loudly, so many, how to expect them to handle, lucky 2 did not turn up today. (There's 2 teacher and 10 toddlers) The 2 naughty ones had to sit with their back against the wall. Another who cried none stop, was left to eat his mucus as the teacher is already coaxing 2 tiny girls, crying as well.
Leasson of 10mins, with some paying attention and the rest looking restless. Then it's play time. All the toys thrown onto the floor, they can help themselves to it. Should they put it into their mouth, i was assured, dont worry, let them have a taste of it, we do wash the toys weekly. Indeed they do, as i can see some of the toys with dripping water.
The none-stop crying toddler was found to have pooed at 10.30am. Assistant teacher assured him he will help him clean up, after she packed the toys. 11am, toddlers usher to dining area. Burning hot porridge was arranged in front of the kids while the teacher distribute. I have to remind the teachers, some toddlers do grab food placed in front of them, like mine, due to the eagerness to eat.
The portion was minimal, two scoop, as it's still burning hot. After that, teacher will ask anyone want more. If not, then meal is considered done. The pooed toddler was whisked to clean backside, after assistant informed \"he will have skin sensitivity\" if i waited too long. Kind of her to realise that at 11.15am. Amazingly, the toddler who touched only 2 scoop of his porridge, wasn't given his food after the cleanup. He was stading by the wall, waiting for his bath.
Another new comer toddler sitting if front of my son do not know how to self feed as well. He managed to smear all the porridge over his arms, while the teacher supervise. He gotten most of the food down his shirt rather than his throat.
Dessert consist of a thin slice of apple, with skin. None trained ones pushed the whole piece into their mouth. Mercy to those who didnt choke. The poor one sitting opp us had to steal my son's apple. Afterall, he didnt know how to ask raise his hand to ask for 2nd helping, nor inform the teacher he's still hungry.
After asking for 3rd helping for porridge and 3 apples, the teacher looked surprised and says, he sure eat a lot. I have to point to the opp one, who took the food from my son bowl.
To that, the teacher shrugged and told me, lucky there's extra today, else they dont get extra helping once the food are finished.
Following which, with porridge on their face and clothes, they had to line up and wait for their bath.
I left with my son after that with mixed feeling. 5 hours with the playgroup, there's only 1 call for drinking water. There kids have milk and food stains on their mouth as there's no wipe up after every meal. Teachers are not attentive towards kids who need help, expecting them to self train. I agreed independance is great, but the road to independance will need lots of care, love and guidance.
Are these what we're paying for when we left our kids in the cc?
I seriously doubt this is what most parents are expecting.
Which Bedok branch is that? 😓 If not suitable, then withdraw. But sometimes is hard to find a suitable convenient Childcare centre. I feel like withdrawing my child, but due to convenience, we are still enrol our child there. 🤷 Not much of a choice in choosing suitable childcare, I feel. Other childcare centres a little far from our place.

This is common in most childcare. You should be thankful there is available CC teachers in that centre. Most would have quit by the demands of so many parents if all the parents aren't understanding. Perhaps it is an eye opener but I heard in this industry, to have teachers in the centre is better than shortage of teachers.

                    Hi Sparkletots parents

Pls do check your CDA account monthly.
I just realised that Sparkletots has deducted extra $300 from my DD cda account on 1 Nov. My DD has been with them since May this year .I called the Principal on this but she could not give me a good explanation for this. At first she said MCYS didnt give them the subsidy in Sep so they deduct from my account in Nov. After that she said its their system error.
Luckily I have already decided to transfer her to My First Skool in Dec. Find that their accounting system is terrible. My daughther transferred from infant to toddler in Sep, till now they have not refund me infant deposit. More over they are still holding on to my toddler deposit and deduct extra $300 from cda account. Total they owed me almost $2k.

can anyone with kids in Sparkletot kindly share how your cc updates the parents on the curriculum taught.

                      Eg, any daily timetable given,
frequency of updates about what has been taught to kids,
details of yearly curriculum to be covered each term,
any materials for home usage to reinforce what has /being taught in cc
Above info via email or communication book or other mediums…?.

Heard that each outlet handles such issues differently and it’s the cc supervisor decision.
I just want to get a feel of my kid’s Sparkletot cc position is handling these compared to other cc under this flagship.

                        Hi sesame2319

you are right, each centre has their own set of rules depending on how the supervisor lead. My child’s (N2) sparkletots has a change of teachers very regularly, where my fil kept complaining about it. He also keeps complaining that the kids do nothing but playing. Hence, that raise to my concern. I am thinking to switch him to my first skool. But have a feel that it would ended up be the same, any advise for me?
