budgeting - how?

macdonald is pretty expensive especially on weekends when there is no promotion (correct me if i am wrong). i try to buy breakfast between 7-9am and between 12-3 pm for lunch (cheaper deals). sometimes i would just buy the burgers ($2) and skip the drinks and fries. i dont buy kids' meal anymore cos' the toys are really lousy.
i dread grocery shopping now, the final sum makes me
 :moneyflies: even if i just have less than 15 items. -

I try to save 35 percent of my take home pay every month. I still feel that I m not saving enough. I know of people who can save 50percent of their pay. Whoa!
35% is good. I can only managed to squeeze out 25% of my take home pay for saving. Limitation is that I am the sole earner in the house. But i will try to save 90% of my bonuses. Whatever way, it is still the same feeling the saving is not enough... hahahaha -
If you are taking home pay like DH, cant even save 10%.
But if you are taking home pay 8 - 10K, saving >50% also can....

Daddy2007, as sole provider your savings of 25 percent is impressive! You must a great daddy!

Lolmum, I Realised that too. When I go NTUC, things are so expensive than before. $100 last time can buy alot of things but now $100 can buy me fewer items. Which is why now I also cut down on baking. Now maid salary also go up, food items also up, hospitalization bill also up. Everything is up and up except for my salary.

yes peapot, hospitalization bills are really expensive now and must go thru each item listed on bill carefully and make sure there is no extra or double charge. if possible bring your own stuff like diapers for adults or kids.
about a month ago, i went to a dr near my place cos i was feeling really sick (fever and bad cough) and my bill was S$110. :scared: this is definitely my most expensive bill for a fever and cough consultation and medicine. the consultation itself is more than 25% of the total bill. it was just normal cough syrup (same as the one my sis had from her hdb dr) and one 5 day antibiotics. -
Yes, nowadays I just self medicate unless I really need MC.

I do my budgeting yearly, with some items fall under Monthly, some Yearly, some One-Off.
