Creative Horizons - Discussion

Hi,
Anyone from Eastgate branch can share their experience(P2)? I'm still considering if I should sign up my kid. Please PM me, thank you! And we can share the $100 rebate promotion too to save on my registration.

Hi
Can anyone advise whether their English prog for Primary level includes creative writing component too? From the website seems that creative writing component is a separate program? Thanks for feedback. -

Anyone has feedback at their Eastgate centre?
Are they good for lower primary? -
The takeaway depends on the child. They have an entrance exam. Both my kids attend classes there. DD is able keep up but DS needs a more structured style of teaching and I had withdrawn him. You may wish to purchase their compilation of winning essays for the Paper Kites competition to gauge the quality of their students’ work.

Can you share roughly what will they do in class?
I m considering CH though i know my son needs to pass their diagnostic test first with Cogito and Eaglewings. -
Dear junemum72…
CH has nothing to do with the two other centres you mentioned, so passing the dignostic test with them will be irrelevant to being able to cope with CH’s lessons. CH has its own diagnostic test which can help parents determine if CH will be helpful to their children or not.
For what CH does in class: Activities centered on the lesson objectives and then one piece of individual written work. Can be compre, compo, situational writing, cloze, synthesis and transformation. The lesson objectives are specific. For example, how to identify character traits in compre. Then the written work would be a compre where the students infer traits from behaviour, speech or body language. The programme is solid, in my opinion because it has clear structure and specific instructional objectives. They focus on ONE thing at a time but make sure the kids understand that ONE thing, rather than squeeze the whole paper (Compre Compo Grammar) into ONE lesson and don’t touch on anything effectively at all. -
They learn inference skills for Comprehension - highlight, mark out, write notes at the side, writing techniques for essay writing. They also learn English grammer in a fun way eg Wordsearch. They have a library which I find the collection is good for older kids. For younger kids, it is the standard titles such as Geronimo Stilton, etc. I cannot really remember as I do not bring DD up nowadays.
