i was directed here by peterch and autumnbronze.

would appreciate some advice on which breadmaker to get.

i have never baked bread in my entire life. So I am a newbie. Don't know why all of a sudden feel like making my own bread. :shock:

Is it true homemade bread is harder? Difficult to achieve the soft texture?

Me no expert here. I bought my Zmachine a few mths ago & have never stop baking since then. I think all machine about the same. Z machine quite X but it's compact & juz nice for my micro kitchen.
2 things I dont like about the Z machine, (1) don't have a button for baking only (2) if I do a full cycle - kneading, proofing & baking, I have to wait until machine cools down before I can do another bread, this I can understand. What I don't is, I use the cookie dough option twice to knead my dough & I can't choose it the 3rd time, need to wait until it cools again! The cookie dough cycle took 13mins, twice only 26mins & the machine is already overheated?
You can achieve soft & fluffy bread with practice. I personally feel that using oven to bake is better than using bread machine to bake. You can control how long you want to do your 2nd proofing & also how brown u wanna your bread to be. Further more, you can bake buns & other fanciful bread instead of juz loaf bread.
I have not buy any commercial bread since I started baking.

Parisilk - the one at holland? Yes it is reliable. i got my vacuum cleaner there cheaper.

Anyone knows if Takashimaya sells bread machine too? still got some unused vouchers.

i was just scanning through some of the earlier pages on this thread. Looks like the thread was very active a year back and lots of hype. And you are still here after more than a year. you must be the expert breadmaker now.

:oops: :oops: Unfortunately, I am not an expert. Only have been baking normal wholemeal, cranberry or prune bread. Don't have time to be adventurous cuz of toddler, hee hee.

Peterch and maid are one of the few experts that I remember. They used to help me with my questions. There are others too, the newer ones who posted after this thread went quiet for a while.

So don't fret. I am sure if you have any queries, someone will help you out

I bought the severin bread machine :please: a year ago(think am the only 1 who bought S bread machine )..and am still baking yummy bread almost every weekends. have tried pumpkin bread, KouQiZi bread(wolfberries), sweet potatoes bread, BakHu with hazel nut bread :scared:, pitachio nuts with seaweed :siao: etc...so far so good, no complaint from family and friends yet :roll:
I find it quite yummy when nuts are added. my DS is more then happy to use his toy hammer to crash the pack of nuts for me

Don't hesitate, go and buy the lovely cute z machine!
