It is an extremely tedious exercise. 2 years ago, my immediate neighbour did a massive renovation to his house. He had some workers sleep over and they brought some old mattresses into the worksite. Within weeks, we had a massive infestation of bedbugs.

If you follow the instructions on bedbug eradication, you pretty much need to take out ALL your beddings on a weekly basis to sun and spray bed-bug insecticide. They are quite resistant to normal insecticide and you need to buy the specific spray from the supermarket. You may also need to spray (I used regular insecticide here, the bed bug one is costly!) under the floorboards, between gaps in your bedframe, cracks in the wall for instance. I eventually had to dismantle my bed frame because they had build a nest in one of the gaps between the boards, and my wife and I were being bitten to death. I did this every weekend for 2 WHOLE MONTHS! Vacuum, wash, air, sun, spray, repeat x all the mattresses, bed frames, soft toys, etc. I think I finally got on top of it, not had any issue for almost 2 years.

But it was one heck of an effort!

          Good luck!

Always wash your bed linen in hot water.

I don't think you really need to do this every time, it consumes a lot of energy, and when there is a bed bug infestation, this in itself will not be enough.

yup cos the bugs are not only in the linens but also in the mattresses and in the bedframe and basically any nooks or crevices.

My suggestion, call the pest controllers.

Another thing to note is about bringing luggage home from travel. The US hotels are undergoing a major bed bug infestation. When you get home, try not to unpack in your bedroom, but in the hall, or outside in the patio if possible. When done, put the empty cases outside to sun for a bit. Some cases may not tolerate direct sunning, so you may need to do a good wipe down and put them in the store far from the bedrooms.

Have you had experience with that? What did they do for you?

I thought only New York is having this bed bug issue. How bad is the situation?
