Coping with Primary 1

It is really not easy being a kid this generation esp with P1 - their load is not much lighter :scared: ....

How is it possible to draw a line :?: ...cannot push too much, neither can be too slack. Kindergarten syllabus not standardized...neither is P1 now. A mother with a P1 daughter in MGS told me it's stressful keeping up grades. I can't afford to kill myself to keep my daughter's grades up...as long as she passes, I'm happy enough. It's not fair to say this, but I still have an older one in P5...he is the main priority now.

Recently, I don't even dare to ask my daughter's teacher which area needs more attention. If my daughter is the older one, it's natural to be kancheong...I've gone through those days before when son was in P1. Just a difference of 4 years...P1 syllabus is tougher now.
Off topic, but I was shocked to hear words like 'isoceles triangle, equilateral triangle' last night. I thought it's Sec 1 Maths :shock: How come P5 is learning that now ?

is your kid with any chinese enrichment? if so, can always bring the homework to the centre to seek additional help in explaining.

Yes my daughter has lady tutor coming over to teach her. But she comes in the morning on Wednesday and Sunday afternoon.

When my daughter gets homework on Monday, Wednesday~Thursday, she is not able to get help to clear any doubts in chinese character or sentences which she cannot understand.

My daughter is actually quite good and managed to score full marks in her written paper in SA1 :rahrah: .

But still being a KS parent, I think if anybody will help her in her doubts (which she has sometimes) she will improve better..

can anybody help?

My daughter is taught creative writing using 3 pictures...she has problems linking up the pictures. Her teacher told me she will be starting on 4 pictures as well as Show & Tell.

Hi Janet, besides enrichment, perhaps it would help if your daughter reads alot of books - think that helps with language and developing imagination?

Janet , you are one wonderful mom, taking really good care of your children. :hugs:

Seems like your DD's school ( Pei Hwa, right?) is really ahead - my DS's ( in P1 too) school (GEP school too) is taking it much slower. So its ok , dun worry too much...
And its only right you focus more on your DS - its a stage when they need more guidance. so no guilts , ok :snuggles:

My daughter is in CHIJ Toa Payoh. Her school is really taking EL to a new level at P1 :faint: Last night, I was revising with her for the CL test today...told her to go through the 填写汉字 and 词语 b4 the test. She told me, 'What's the big deal ? It's only a test ?' :slapshead:

didnt know asking a child to write a story with the help of a few pictures & helping words is called creative writing... i learned something new..

DS started in K2 this year... on writing 4 sentences for 4 diff pictures.... is this called creative writing as well... or constructive sentencing... :scratchhead:
