      FantasyLandDreams:

What marks is a pass, merit and distinction for rad exam?

I Can't find the marks range chart from rad website, can anyone help? Thanks.

      Ballet RAD Grading

      Standard Not Attained : 0 to 39

      Pass : 40 to 54

      Merit : 55 to 74

      Distinction : 75 to 100

Thanks. Any idea on how the marks breakdown is like, for example, character dance 20 marks and so forth?

They don't break down like character dance 20 marks, etc

They break down : according to each Technique displayed, creativity, expression, music flow synchronization & appreciation during dancing, in both Non-Character dance movement, and in Character dance movement, as follows :

type of Technique demonstrated during exam : / Marks attainable (maximum) / Marks awarded

          Technique 1 : 10 / x1

          Technique 2 : 10 / x2

          Technique 3 : 10 / x3

          Technique 4 : 10 / x4

          Technique 5 : 10 / x5

          Music : 10 / x6

          Performance : 10 / x7

          Dance - Technique : 10 / x8

          Dance - Music and Performance : 10 / x9

          Recall dance steps : 10 / x10

          Special Consideration Work : x11

          =================================================
          Total Marks awarded, for student = x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 .... x11

maximum Total Marks awarded : 100

          =================================================

          for RAD Grade 1 :
          what exactly is Technique 1, Technique 2, 3, or 4 mentioned ?

may refer to RAD Grade 1 Examination Format Requirements, that
describe what are Technique 1, 2, 3 and 4 expected, found under Page 11

usually when will we know the result?

So far, DD has been getting her results beginning-mid July. Results will be released to the ballet teacher, so the kids will know it via the teacher.

Just want to find out. For RAD exam, is the color of the leotard, character skirt and character shoes different in color for every grade?

Am thinking if any of these can be reused for the next exam?

Yes, design of the character skirt may differ, for the same Grade

                    eg:
design of the character skirt at the bottom worn by girls at Crestar for Grade 1 exam, is different from that of my dd, also same G1

for exam G1, the color of my dd leotard is purple.
other ballet schools wear pink. What about yours ?

Dd is wearing sky blue leotard for G1. G2 is darker blue G3 purple.

Typically, the character skirt won't change unless your DD outgrown it. The ribbon colours around the skirts are chosen by the ballet teacher which should be consistent for all her ballet students.

The leotard colour varies in each grade so it has to be changed if your DD is taking exam yearly. Gr 1 & Gr 2, the character shoes are low heel. Gr 3 onwards, the heels are slightly higher for the character shoes. Classical ballet shoes normally change in Gr 3 to include the ribbon. However, I believe some teachers don't change this in Gr 3.

                        Hope this helps.
